Forums - Nintendo - What franchises make you buy systems?

There is no individual franchise really. I love naughty dog, guerrilla, and from software devs though.

Around the Network

I'll go through my history. The games that convinced me to get those systems:

SNES: Final Fantasy IV and VI and Super Metroid

Sega Genesis: Sonic the Hedgehog (they were good back then)

Playstation: Final Fantasy VII

Sega Dreamcast: Shenmue (got the console before Shenmue was out, but the trailer that kept playing at the store I bought my console from kept me dreaming everytime I went there. :)

Playstation 2: Metal Gear Solid 2 Sons of Liberty and Final Fantasy X

Gamecube: Metroid Prime

XBox: Shenmue 2 (The game didn't come out on Dreamcast in NA)

XBox 360: Lost Odyssey

Playstation 3: Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Wii: Super Mario Galaxy

Wii U: The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker HD

Now, although I don't yet have a Playstation 4, here are the games that make it my next console purchase:

- Uncharted 4 A thief's End
- Final Fantasy VII Remake
- Final Fantasy XV
- Shenmue 3
- Horizon Zero Dawn

I'll buy a console for certain genre of games. Whichever console has or will have the most games of my favorite genres gets me as a costumer. A new entry into a franchise is not enough to convince me to buy a console over another.

It's gotta go to Zelda.
I basically said I was done getting new consoles with Gamecube and was just going to get Twilight Princess for that and be done with it all.
9 years ago bought a Wii with my friend when they first came out with the intentions of ebaying them (Slimy, I know. ).
Bought it with Zelda and brought it home. Took one look at the game I'd been waiting to play and just screw it and opened it then and there.
Didn't get a 3DS until Link Between Worlds came out, couldn't resist.
