Forums - Sales - The Reason Why Nintendo Can't Get 3rd Party Games

How surprising that first parties dominate when third parties aren't released, right? But a few of those titles are third party, just so you know.

Also, check the top 20 games on ps4 and ps3 and you'll see it's mostly generic fps, soccer and action games, with one or two racing/ rpg in the middle. what's even worse is that the soccer, fps and action generally have several iterations of the same franchise in the top 20 (AC, COD and FIFA). So, even on ps4 and x1, people don't really buy many third party games outside some key franchises from ubisoft, activision and EA.

At least nintendo fans buy games from many different genres. the top 15 from wii u has like 10/11 different gaming genres.

9 million sellers over the course of 2 years is not a huge number, only 6 2m+ sellers over 2 years is pretty bad. There is plenty of rooms for third parties to find success, but what this list does show is that Wii U and I guess Nintendo in general is skewed towards a certain type of cute, colourful game. But we already knew this lol

But lets just put it this way. Even if Final Fantasy XV and Mass Effect Andromeda came to Wii U, as a fan of those franchises you're already going to have a PS4 by the time they launch. Considering the weakness the of the Wii U, you were always going to pick up a PS4 to play those kind of game. If you're someone who only buys one platform, you'd probably skip the Wii U or pick it up at the end of the generation

"but what this list does show is that Wii U and I guess Nintendo in general is skewed towards a certain type of cute, colourful game."

stupidity.

bolded: that's one of the most pathetic things I've ever read. congratulations.

Very constructive criticism and well though out argument *applauds*

is not console power, is not architecture.
third games dont sell on ninty consoles, so they dont make them anymore.

nope, that's also a lie. third parties sell on nintendo consoles but shady business prevail.

He is right. 95% of Nintendo games are Cute, Colorful, E rated games. Im not bashing the style BTW.

And who in his right mind buys a Nintendo console to play 3rd Party Games?

Nintendo currently for the Wii U can't get third party games because the system sales suck!

but yes you are correct to some degree that a lot of Nintendo fans buy the system exclusively for Nintendo IPs. which is why Nintendo would have been fine had they designed a smarter system and actually marketed half well. The gamepad and the inability to really describe to the market what the Wii U was were drastic mistakes

And only 9 of the top 19 games sold over a million in their first year of release...

11, Splatoon and Hyrule Warriors have both been confirmed to be over 1 million

Nintendo gamers think the first party numbers are what scare third party away. LOL The problem will never be solved.

This is the clumsiest analysis/"reason" for the third-party situation on Nintendo consoles I think I've ever seen. At least other detractors put more effort in and ended up with more than a one sentence statement.

Well said, well said.

Regarding my former argument of the same old boring control schemes. I actually do believe that cars (real ones) should not be steered with a wheel. The cars of the future should be drive completely by themselves (and they will - you will see).

The reason Nintendo systems can't get third party games is because their first party games are so dominating? Or, perhaps it is that the reason Nintendo systems have such strong first party sales is because they can't get thirs party games?

It's a vicious circle and it's probably easiest to just accept that Nintendo systems are for Nintendo games.

Too bad thats not enough to sustain a company.
