so a few months ago they decided that Club Nintendo would discontinue in North America. it still runs in Europe however.

later they revealed they had plans to open a more stable, better loyalty program which has yet to be announced.

even later, over 100 downloadable games were made available using Club Nintendo coins.

and as of today the service is completely shut down. you cannot redeem coins, spend coins, or get new codes.

It was a good service. Well this last year was awesome. Hopefully they do something good with the new promotion. They need to do something big to contend against PS+ and XBL.

I don't think it should, or will be anything like PS+ or XBL.

@Jizz. Of course it'll be free. Since they confirmed it is a loyalty program, it may be similar to CN: Buy games, get rewards.

I remember Iwata once saying that they want to reward longtime fans by discounting the prices of games by the history you've had purchasing them. You buy 2 Mario games, every other Mario game is discounted by 10%, and so on.

What I'm pretty sure they'll either stop or do less often is physical rewards. And they'll continue with VC and game rewards, but they'll probably take less coins/stars to get.

I thought it ended at the end of may. I logged in in mid June to find was still open. I used my platinum status to get Crashmo for my daughter and used the majority of my coins to get her a Mario and Luigi game (I wanted Wonderful 101!). I just used my last 390 coins to get Earthbound and.... Nothing, yesterday.

Good riddance. As hard as it was too get that final platinum and they shitted on me with those rewards.

Look at it! Did any of you save your points? I didn't know they were still making phisical rewards. Now I suffer in remorse.

Prediction: Nintendo will unveil their new loyalty program in an August Direct.
