For 90% of the japanese industry that's looking to make games on console the PS4 is the only relevant option.

That's nothing, we talk about sales, agreed? Or idk...

If we talk about this, we can't say the PS4 is relevant and the Wii U is not when the Wii U is selling more.

If not, sorry, my mistake.

It is not selling more than PS4.
PS4 > Wii U in Japan 2015 so far.
Wii U only got a boost from Splatton these weeks, that's it.
2015 is looking to be much better for PS4 than Wii U (sales and games).

Around the Network

i hope they can do it, we are already seeing a huge amount of japanese games coming very early this gen, and there are rumors of even more in development, (Front Mission being one of them, and i hope that one is true)

There isn't strong competition in Japan to be fair.

You call that strong competition? lol

In Japan?

Yes, considering the PS4 is at DreamCast level, a console like Wii U is a stronger competition.

If the PS4 was selling at the 3DS level, then the Wii U was nothing, but cnosidering the PS4 is after DreamCast the worst selling console of the history in Japan (withouth XBOX console ) yes, the Wii U is a strong competition.

And if you think the PS4 will sell many millions more than Wii U lifetime, good luck...

Wii U has got Mario Kart 8, Smash Bros. and Splatoon as system sellers.
PS4 hasn't got any system sellers yet. Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Metal Gear Solid are all coming soon! Tbh, future is looking not good for Wii U with system sellers.

PS4 > Wii U in 2015 so far (without system sellers).
PS4 will have a much much longer life than Wii U.
PS4 could sell 2x more than Wii U imo.

sigh... Look at launches aligned... Wii U is ahead. Ps4 got some japanese games and it helped boost it up, Wii U is getting japanese games this year which will boost it up as well. Look at the big picture instead of a single year or is it that you can't do that? Ps4 isn't selling great in japan.. neither is Wii U but what can be said is Wii U had a way better start than ps4 even after it got its first full force of japanese games.

Yes, is selling more than the PS4.

2015? Doesn't matter, because is a intere month that the Wii U is selling more, and if you talk about 2015, well let's talk about lifetime sales:

The PS4 has sold 1.5 million in Japan in 1 1/2 years. The WU has sold 1.7 million in the same period.

We talk about ACTUALLY sales, and in the ACTUALLY sales, the WU is selling more than PS4.

"Spltoon boost" Splatoon is release 5 weeks ago. and WU is still above PS4.

Last week, the WU was nothing of sistem seller, for the PS4 is releasing DMC4. and? Wii U > PS4.

Funny, i thought the Splatoon week was the last week where Wii U was above PS4...

The rest is nothing. PS4 will probabily sell more than Wii U lifetime in Japan, but both will sell badly.

Wii U is not ahead. PS4 got better games in this year than Wii U so far and it will continue.
Why should we talk about the past when the thread is about the future?
And when did I say that PS4 is selling great in Japan?

But look at the fact that PS4 sold 1m in way less time than it took the Wii U with very few games. So imagine when it actually gets games.

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat!?

Yakuza, BloodBorne, Dragon Quest, Final Fantasy Type 0, and other small release like Far Cry 4, The Order, and i for sure forgot someone.

"No sistem seller" cit

No, the PS4 is not even close to sell x2 Wii U, actually Wii U is selling more, and HAS sold more in the same period, PS4 sold more in 2015, so?

The first Q1 of the year is ALWAYS strong for PS console, is at holidays level, look PSVita, it sold in Q1 more than in the holidays in Japan. That's what is gonna to happen for PS4, actually the PS4 basis is 10k.

The market is just normalizing. The abnormal part was Japan having a strangle-hold on gaming in the first place. Gaming is now world-wide and the disbursement of studios and sales should reflect that.

The part that concerns me is how short-sighted many Japanese publishers are. When given the opportunity to grow a new market, they hang back and cling to the old one like a drowning man to life preserver. That, or they type-cast platforms without ever trying to push beyond those perceived boundaries. Sometimes I get the impression that most of the Japanese gaming industry is run by businessmen who aren't really interested in video-games or the people who play them.

The epitome of that was Yoichi Wada. He plunged Square Enix into a period of existential crisis and poorly made and poorly aimed products, which was in itself a reflection of the japanese gaming market. The fall of Sony and the PS3 during the 7th gen also contributed greatly to the entire situation.

Here's to hoping the PS4 brings about the ressurrection of japanese gaming culture as it is essential to the wellbeing of the industry, both creatively and financially speaking.

I think some of you need to listen when someone says Launches aligned. Wii U > Ps4 LAUNCHES ALIGNED.
Ps4 has gotten a ton of limited edition games and more Japanese games than Wii U in this period compared to wii U yet, Wii U is ahead launches aligned. At some point the ps4 will pass Wii U if it continues at this rate launches aligned but, right now its not. Its selling worse than Wii U was.
