Quit your bullshit and read the article or better yet read the original freaking interview, Yoshida is talking about consoles and nothing else. Stop putting the blame on him if you can't even be bothered to inform yourself right.

lol , so did he admit vita is failure on japanese market ? he just ashamed to admit his own failure after all

console market in japan = handheld + home console! he ignore handheld because of vita got kicked by 3ds really hard

Says who? You can't just create your own definitions to make it look like he was talking about something he was never talking about. But since you apparently refuse to look for the interview I'll just post the relevant part here:

So I interpreted the Final Fantasy 7 remake as a play to get the Japanese market excited about consoles again, about PS4.

That's fair... I do not know the exact purpose of that project, or the agreement between SCE and Square Enix, but Japanese consumers are very conservative in the kind of games they want. Final Fantasy... is it 15 now? 15. And Dynasty Warriors, Tecmo Koei releases it every year and the people keep buying and buying. I'm not criticising the game, but people in Japan tend to like to stick to their popular franchises. So that's an additional challenge for the games coming from outside Japan. I have many great non-Japanese titles, as you know, but these games do not sell in Japan. SCE Japan is now merged with SCE Asia, so it's now one company marketing games in both markets, but oftentimes our western games sell better in Asia than in Japan because Japanese people's tastes are so different.

Is reclaiming Japanese gamers a focus for you?

Yes, yes... so PS4 has amazing sales, it's selling very well outside Japan because there are amazing games made from outside Japan. It's only this year that, with Dragon Quest Heroes and Bloodborne and Final Fantasy Type 0 and Yakuza, Japanese publishers finally started to make games on PS4 and PS4 is showing some upward swing in Japan. So definitely, Final Fantasy 7 and 15 and Dragon Quest Heroes 2, these games will help.

The whole freaking conversation was about home consoles.

Read the interview before you post one more reply. Oh and make sure that you actually have a grasp of what Yoshida said.

Also if you want to combine handheld and console why not throw mobile gaming in there as well? Oh right, because you want to proclaim Nintendo the winner of the japanese market, my bad.

Dernebel : You are losing your time talking to someone who just wants to make you go crazy

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Last time a Japanese person said that they started World War.

Showa/Hirohito didn't say anything like that. What other World Wars has Japan been involved in?

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Well SONY as Corporation alone will not be suffice, Japan it self on economic level is not that big like it was used to be, Let say now Korean also has a share of good company like Samsung, Hitachi etc, and also Taiwan and Chinese economy emerge, that will also affected the whole situation globally on SONY.

the end of 2015 is big for the ps4 in japan with MGS5, Persona 5, Star Ocean 5, Star Wars and Naruto UNS4 + other games like Fallout 4/PES ect. 2016 is bigger with FF 15, KH3, Street Fighter 5, Uncharted 4, Yakuza 6 and maybe a Dragon Quest Maingame.

From the mid 1980's to the early 2000's, Japan ruled the industry. If you had a console, your console HAD to have Japanese support in order to stay alive. This is why for the longest time, all the major consoles on the market were Japanese. It's also why many were skeptical of Microsoft when they first announced Xbox. Something happened along the way. The Japanese were the best. Sometime in the early 2000's however, they started to fall behind and the west caught up.

There's a lot of debate over what happened, some of it factual, some of it opinionated but I think one thing that made everything worse (after the initial decline in the Japanese market) was when the Japanese stopped being themselves and started trying to replicate what was popular in the west. They alienated their own market while looking mediocre in the eyes of western gamers. I think Resident Evil 6 is still the poster child of what the Japanese should NOT be doing with their games. I think the best solution for the Japanese is to borrow ideas from the west such using licensed game engines while still doing their own thing.

As someone who grew up on mostly Japanese games, it saddens me to see people (presumingly young people) actually bashing them. One idiot on youtube was actually bashing Japanese developers by using racial slurs......and he was a PlayStation supporter. Fucking idiot.

Youre mistaken you listening them together but it still doesnt add all the sales. And second its another fact that sony games are bought a lot more digitally, and third are nintendo games cheaper they cost 40$ while ps4 and ps3 games are more expensive.

Check this article out by a user here named ryuzaki he called it out way ealier how nintendo is struggling in japan soon enough.

https://ryuz4ki57inenglish.wordpress.com/2015/02/01/in-japan-the-illusion-of-nintendomination/

Thanks for mentioning my article =)

Here's the new one, Nintendo's been keeping losing ground since the beginning of this year

https://ryuz4ki57inenglish.wordpress.com/2015/06/07/where-theres-smoke/

Sony's systems this generation account for something like 20% of the market (5.5m vs 21m Nintendo systems) but they account for more than 60% of the games released now.
