Yes, especially with Canada's game prices skyrocketing D:

What kind of prices is it for you in Canada? Similar to us in UK or even greater?

In the UK I think new games cost 42 pounds, right? In Canada we pay $65 + tax (tax is usually  13%) .

I would go 100% digital if the game downloaded onto a specially designed removable card that could be transferred between current and future gen machines, guaranteeing backward compatability and a physical copy.

Probably not because I like to own a physical copy. Only exception is Steam and PC games really but for big games like Elder Scrolls or Fallout, I still would like to get a physical edition.

Most big releases are £44.99 usually. Comparing the retail releases on amazon of $74.99 CAD (+13% tax = $84.75 CAD) and £44 (tax included) for Halo 5. $84.75 CAD = £43.68 on XE.com give or take a little there both basically the same price of $44.

Halo 5 is acutally one of the games that has a competative pricing on the Xbox store as its listed at £44.99 for the standard edition and I'm actually getting it digital for this reason and comparing this to Black Ops 3 been £44 on amazon and £54.99 on the Xbox store.

And honestly, it already gets competitive now.

I'm all digital on the Wii U and 3DS, and there are sales on these games all the time. I fell in love with a franchise because of a digital sale. SMT IV for $15. Bought REvelations for $20. Bought Darksiders 2 for $20. Street Fighter IV 3D for $20. Just played my first MGS for $20. And a lot of these games go for much cheaper now.

If you're saying digital pricing isn't competitive, you're lying to yourself.

I can't speak for the Wi U already been competative but the PS4 and Xbox One are not theres a game ever once in a while that releases at same price as retail and the rest are overpriced. Berlow is Amazon vs Xbox Store price.

Lego Jurassic World £31.64 vs £44.99

Elder Scrolls Online £39.99 vs £49.99

Witcher 3 £39.99 vs £44.99

Batman Arkham Knight £39.85 vs £54.99

Just a few of the more recent games to of released, None of them are remotely competative price wise and gives no incentive at all to even think about purchasing digital over a physical copy.

I wouldn't buy recently released games because I don't exactly trust digital marketplaces because I don't have control over what I've paid for, but I would buy more after a while if the prices were reasonable. The thing is, they're rarely reasonable on consoles. They're lagging behind PC like five years as they've only recently found a relatively sweet spot for sales. Now we're still waiting for regular prices to become sensible.

Interesting. So the UK and Canada's prices are quite similar when including tax. I guess us Canadians need to complain less

Our prices used to be $60 for new game last gen, but this gen they raised the price to $65. Also the tax rate isn't the same throughout the country. Most provinces have a tax rate between 12-15%, but in Alberta it's only 5%.

Lack of resale value and HD space is the main issue. I am selective when it comes to digital.

Sunset Overdrive for instance is only around 20GB, a fair size. Something like Arkham Knight or 90% of the other games out there are well over 40GB. A no for me.

No. I've gone out of my way to own a physical copy (imported DW7 Empires for around $60 when the game was on PSN for $29.99), so price will not make a difference. Only when physical is completely out of the picture will I be forced to resign myself to buying most digital games.

Basically this. I don't care about the price. I want the physical copy. Even on PC. And I have fast internet 300Mb/s. Still don't care. Unless physical is such a rediculess price. I bought Ducktales remastered physical copy. Even though I had a digital copy. If I didn't own the GC versions of the Remastered RE games. I would of bought the PS3 import copies.

I only buy digital when it's the only way to get the game. Physical is better in my opinion, because you get to have a case.
