Forums - Gaming - RPGs that you loved more on a 2nd playthrough?

Not that I disliked, actually I loved these three but were bad at those. On my second playthrough or at the end used a guide or understand the basics and loved even more:

Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles
Fire Emblem Awakening
Shin Megami Tensei IV

Played the first SMT game and I wasn't able to get into it. I really liked the atmosphere and everything but I sucked at it.

I decided to play more modern SMT games and when I came back to it I was able to make progress and enjoyed it a lot. I admit I had to use a guide, specially by the end of the game, but using one doesn't ruin my enjoyment of a game.

Yah I played a bit of SMT1 and SMT2 but didn't really get into it as much as I did with Nocturne. Maybe, I'll go back to them one day with a guide.

Nope.. I'll always dislike Final Fantasy 13..

Agreed! And I gave that game two playthroughs, I actually think I disliked the game even more.

I don't get the question really.
Why would you play through a game AGAIN if you disliked it the first time? Are you a masochist?
If I don't like a game I don't play it. No, this has never happened to me.

Sorry, I should've clarified and asked it differently. Really it's more of a question whether your opinion towards an RPG was better on a repeat playthrough.

Still never played Crystal Chronicles, maybe I'll try it one day. Also, even though I consider myself an SMT fan, I actually did not like SMTIV. I think I'm going to have to go back to it and really give it some time tho.

Shenmue

For RPGs, I thought Mass Effect was a good game, but definitely enjoyed my second playthrough more.

For other games... No More Heroes I thought was going to be a poor to average game based on the first 10 minutes, I warmed to it a little after the first boss fight, thought it was ok after the 2nd boss fight. It continued to grow on me through to the end to the point that I immediately started a second playthrough.

I can't think of any other games I have enjoyed significantly more second time around.

I hate to restart Chrono Cross 2-3 times before playing it to the end (the first times I lost interest). In the end, it's a decent game but still not a worthy Chrono Trigger successor.

Signature goes here!

Dragon Warrior. I was a punk kid who didn't know what was going on the first time I played it. A few years later and I had it figured out. It was a great game.
