I didn't precisely like it, but after Chapter 2 I just got completely used to it. When I first played the DLC and the letterbox was gone, I felt weird. Like something was missing.

What the hell is the point in doing that? Why not just stretch it out?
Finally.I actually dont understand why they didnt do this sooner.
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

My guess in your example is the Star Wars DVDs were done to accomadate old televisions. Then newer wide screens came out so not only do you get letterbox (vertical bars) but also pillarbox (vertical bars) creating the window box effect.
May check settings on DVDs to see if they have options to be viewed on different aspect ratio screens.

Crap, they caved in. There goes the atmosphere. The top and bottom of the expanded screen are completely useless in this game, as people who played it like that on PC or watched playthroughs would know.

Great. I hate those in a game. One of the reasons I didn't find the order that impressive graphically, it really turned me off.
I'm happy. The letterbox, combined with the poor framerate made the game so jarring to play I traded it in.
