Yes, one of the comparison charts was from 2005, but the VC-1/mpeg2 information was from 2006. If the PS3 enables VC-1 encoding, then how come Sony didn't use it right from the start? Could someone give a link of a new comparison between blu-ray and HD-DVD (both VC-1), since I can't find one? Anyways, here's the latest graph of blu-ray (blue) vs. HD-DVD (black) 30 day top-10 salesrank: http://www.eproductwars.com/dvd/graphs/salesrank-1-1-recent30.jpg As for the 360, I think MS should've included HD-DVD drive in the Xbox 360 to begin with. The extra tower isn't just a good solution, although it's 100,000 units sales have been clamed to be a success. The Wii, well it doesn't even handle DVD movies. A lot of people already have a DVD-player, but 2 in 1 is always more convenient solution than extra machines all over the living room. Back to DVD porn: it's funny to see you're ignoring(?) a $3 billion business, even if it is declining. I think size is starting to play a major role with next gen, because those who want superb quality are going to have some issues with loading time if they decide to have HD-porn from the net rather than on a disk.
Blu-Ray is going to be using AVCs from now forward on most of the newer movies coming out. I tihnk the majority are going to be in MPEG4, VC-1 is great for compression that's why HD-DVD uses it, but when you use 50GB discs standard you don't need to compress as much so MPEG4 will likely be just as good quality if not better. The Majority of Porn sales are over the net. Think about it, I can get a subcription to a family of website, like 10-20 of the same brand for 20 bucks a month. I wil have access to all their movies, archives, and new movies. What can I get movie wise for 20 bucks? 1 DVD in 480p, which I could burn myself from my computer when I download the movies from the net. Who would ever buy a movie on DVD? It's been a continuing downtrend since VHS. When VHS was introduced the net wasn't around, and individual porn movies could sell in the millions of copies. Now for individual movies that is no longer the case. HD-DVDs and Blu-rays will sell even less. Would you really pay 50bucks for those? Yeah right when you can get it basically free on the net.

At least one porn studio said they supported Blu-Ray in 2006, and I don't know if they still support it. Sony said they will allow porn, then they said they wouldn't, and then they said they would allow it. Sony has become really confusing in the past couple years...
