Yulegoat said: Yes, one of the comparison charts was from 2005, but the VC-1/mpeg2 information was from 2006. If the PS3 enables VC-1 encoding, then how come Sony didn't use it right from the start? Could someone give a link of a new comparison between blu-ray and HD-DVD (both VC-1), since I can't find one? Anyways, here's the latest graph of blu-ray (blue) vs. HD-DVD (black) 30 day top-10 salesrank: http://www.eproductwars.com/dvd/graphs/salesrank-1-1-recent30.jpg .
You used this site as a reference before so I am surprised you didn't see reviews like http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/lastsamurai.html You do not really understand encoding. The PS3 didn't have to enable anything it could always play VC-1 it was all up to the distribution companies to decide which format to encode with. And make no mistake VC-1 is good but not better. With enough space and bandwith Mpeg-2 gets a lot of rave reviews. Like here http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/enemyofthestate.html So after the blu ray camp fixed thier issues with the 50 gig discs now the support is rolling out. Compare the titles and compare the exclusives. http://hddvd.highdefdigest.com/releasedates.html http://bluray.highdefdigest.com/releasedates.html you would have to admit that "one" of those formats is in for a rough year in 2007. I really believe with titles like crank and casino royale coming out blu ray might gain an edge.
