I was replying to xtx, who said "that's oooooold news, right know bluray is using vc1 encoding system and the quality is great". I was only interested on whether there was any sensible reason for Warner using such choices that made the first blu-ray releases picture quality a lot inferior compared to HD-DVDs? Can you answer that? Peter Bracke at high-def digest said he had lukewarm reaction also to the picture quality of the first Sony Pictures movies he reviewed, which were XXX and 50 first dates. Thanks for the link to the review. I just tried to google for "blu-ray vc-1" etc. because I wasn't interested in going through all the reviews on high-def digest to find what I was looking for since i had no idea as to how popular the vc-1 would be.
