Amazing!!!

1TB should slot in at $399 and 500GB drop to $349. It would be dumb for Sony to put out a sku for $449. Though if 1TB is bundled with a game at $449 that would be more acceptable to the market perhaps. Still I expect a $349 sku befer the end of the year.

I wish the regular sku would drop down to $300 -.- don't really care what the 1tb sku is priced at unless that's $350 but this seems fairly unlikely.
This is some good news. Though I prefer the one with the glossy finish. Oh well... better get ahold of one before they discontinue them. 1TB though sounds tempting.

It's really easy to replace the drive, and a 1TB internal drive only runs around $50 or so depending on where you look. So if you prefer the look of the glossy, go for it. Sony made it easy to change out HDD's on purpose after all. Especially if you can find maybe a lightly used PS4 for $350 or so, the price will ultimately equal out about the same while giving you an extra 500GB drive that you can shove in a PS3 or something.

seems like a wasted update. they could have redesigned the hardware and cut the price down to make the console more enticing to buy. imagine having a $349 or even $299 PS4 on the market.
on the bright side, im glad they got rid of the shiny plastic because nobody wants it anymore. its just a fingerprint collector.
but yeah, im still not buying one. The Xbox One seems a bit more appealing now

Most likely Chip size reductions. |
Definetly not. There is no big scale 20nm.process and there most likely never will be. I am talking about 20nm planar and amd Nvidia. This power redution and size reductionnis way too small for a die shrink. This rumor is refering to amd designing a chip but.nobody can manufacture it cost efficently.for them.
I for one like the piano black gloss finish on the left side of the original version, gives it a unique look. But I just love the look of the PS4 in general(I think Sony make the best looking consoles overall, except for the super slim PS3.... urgh).
