They can wait a couple more months (weeks even) and nobody will be talking about the feature anymore.

Its Q2 2015, its not worth their time. Its of course always a bonus but the ship where BC was relevant has sailed. PS5 will most certainly launch with it though
PSNow will do
Sony may just turn out at least PS1 classics to shut people up. I mean, they got them on PS3, and the only tweaks it took to get them running on Vita was apparently getting the licensing to do so based on what happened during the "every PS1 PSN game available on Vita" snafu. Then again, Sony may not want to go through yet another round of licensing agreements and renewals and such to bring PS1 to the PS4 if they don't have to. Honestly, I don't care much. Like I said earlier, it would just be one more system I could play Symphony of the Night on.

I do, but that's why I still have my PS3 side-by-side to my PS4 connected to the same TV. I just switch HDMI1 for 2 and grab a DS3 and I'm ready to go.

Highly likely this portion of people can be completely ignored and the outcome of the generation will look no different.
Ok, its not really a great feature to have though. Most game's graphics would be terrible. I guess it gives me a reason to get rid of the 360 though.

The only thing salty about me are my nuts.

The obvious answer is: Not give a fuck because backwards compatibility isnt really a big deal... at all... and its not a game changer in any way or form. its a nice feature to have, and thats it. |
Not sure I get the panic among some people when PS4 is selling well (far ahead of predecessor and far ahead of current competition) despite holding at launch price.

Exactly.
Even last gen, MS gave up on BC for the 360 because nobody cared for it. They promised the same thing: "more and more games will be made to be BC with the 360" and they stopped doing that as interest in the OG Xbox went into obscurity. As another person said, BC is cool for the beginning of the gen when not that many games are out for the new console and the consumer wants to easily transition. Now, 2 years after the console releases and has a decent library of games? Who cares about Viva Pinata, then?
Seriously, the only reason people are playing this up is because it's merely a talking point to say "this a something XBOne has that PS4 doesn't", and they're making it seem like the second coming of Jesus. Yes, it's a nice feature to have. Nothing more, nothing less. Like I've explained to others before, if the 360s library was such a big deal to you that you're excited to play the games on XBOne, that means you still have a 360, which will play all the games, natively. If you don't have a 360, you don't have games (why would you sell your 360 and keep the games, knowing XBOne wasn't BC when you got it? Hope for BC in the future?), and you've moved on to the current gen. If you say "now I can go back and play Game X"....maybe you shouldn't have sold your 360 in the first place if you wanted to play that game so bad.
I swear, logic is being defied in order to make BC bigger than it actually is. It's nice to have. It only adds to your gaming experience, as opposed to being a detriment. But that's about it.

Captain Obvious!
The PS3 was one crazy machine and even before the announcement of the PS4 i never expected the sucessor to support BC. Neither PS3 nor 360 emulation on PC are a real thing but the 360 emulation is way further along, because it's doable, while PS3 is nigh impossible, and we're talking about computers much more powerful than PS4. Next generation though, if there are traditional consoles, both companies should have an easy time doing BC.
As to what Sony should do, there's only one thing. PS1 and PS2 BC. Reasons why it's more important than PS3 BC
