You are being an hypocrite bruh. There is no such thing as GOTY and that term is based off popularity anyway, not facts or qaulity. Then you complain that Sony will win in this thread for popularity? LOL come on on.

We all know Halo 5 will be the biggest exclusive so far this generation and as usual that is all MS has along with another Forza. They have nothing else and nothing all year.

No one cares about Forza as much as it is hyped and TR will go to PS4 and will be no where any GOTY -even though that term is stupid- and Sony has more variety as they always do.

So if only BIG games count than Halo 5 is the only exclusive on XbnoxOne then and both Forza and TR (timed) are irrelevant by your logic.People kill me trying to discredit the games on the PS4 when if they were on WiiU or Xbox or PC they would be hyped by those fan bases. Those are the facts.

Personally I would play TR,but could careless about Halo or Forza. Most games I want this year are multiplat besides Disgaea,Until Dawn,Tearaway,No Man's Sky and Persona 5.I would take those games over any generic FPS and boring racing game anyday, but that is my taste.

AAA games tend to get the benefit of the doubt traditionally in gaming. There is no hypocrsy in that. Sony even admitted their lineup pre e3 was "sparse".

It doesn't matter which games you prefer or have a bias towards, I just said Halo & Tomb Raider sealed the deal for 2015 for microsoft on the AAA end. There are already enough AAA GOTY contenders in Batman, Fallout 4, The Witcher 3 and more to go around. These are all high quality sequels which are given the benefit of the doubt by default and then we tend to cut them off the list if they dont come up to snuff in the end. Sony's only AAA GOTY contender is Bloodborne. The order sold well enough to probably get a sequel, but when it comes to the critical response they missed the boat completely.

I like Sony games myself, but even Sony knows that their 2016 is going to be better than their 2015, which Microsoft considers 2015 to be one of their biggest years in general (Which when you look at what their offering third to fourth quarter it kind of is). If were talking mid tier games? yeah....Sony won by a mile, but AAA? MS has this plain and simple.

MS even stated that they arent even finished with what they have to show. Gamecom is where they are having yet another conference for their 2016 lineup. Sony blew their load and threw all their cards on the table, while MS focused their E3 primarily on 2015. MS admitted while they have Quantum Break and Scalebound gameplay to show they still have some newer games to show as well. Seems they have their priorities straight and are investing in AAA's more since Sony said they couldnt make as many as they made last gen.

If you don't think Halo is a GOTY the year contender thats all well and good(but pretty sad when you think of the legacy you're downplaying). Doesn't even matter if you don't like the game the respect for what Halo has done for FPS in the gaming community is still due. I used to hate halo, but even I fell for it all over again once I played the Master Chief Collection and am currently watching the TV show to catch up for Halo 5.

Sony never said anything about not having AAA, they said their " first party " line up was sparse for 2015 and they let 3rd party do the job this year, and that's true, they have almost no first party games this year except bloodborne but they have good 3rd party support so dont twist their words like many did.

Sony stated earlier in the gen that they cannot afford to invest in as much first party as last gen. You can look this up. As for the sparse part I think they were referring to AAA first party when it came to 2015, but again...that was made up for with the promise of 2016. Horizon looks beautiful and Uncharted is my most anticipated game next year. Seeing that Sony said that, Microsoft would be wise to start getting cut throat and paying third party to make first party IP's and then just dedicate studios to supporting those titles since they arent good at making first party ips themselves.

But nobody is able to say in what way a game with a bigger marketing budget makes it a better game compared to a game with less marketing budget,  it seems people like AAA just for the sake of having something to say without being able to explain in what way it makes a gameplay different or better, so why being AAA marketed game should be important than being a high quality game not marketed, as a gamer ? As a shareholder, yes maybe. Being AAA doesnt make a game better than an other game by default, Ryse and The Order should make you understand that. No one is able to explain in specific terms what makes a " AAA " game better, i wait for someone to tell me, except graphics, as a gamer, why should i care if a game doesnt sell a lot and hasnt a big marketing budget ? I really dont see how that  makes sense for someone who likes quality game, a lot of " mid tier games " are better than most of "AAA " games and thats not really subjectivity when reviewers agree.

I never said that the game with the bigger marketing budget was better. The two games Microsoft has exclusive for the year are critically acclaimed sequels to two AAA franchises which are now considered major players. If you choose to downplay that, thats on you guys. As i've always said, Sony gamers have a much larger taste compared to Xbox gamers because they've been used to a large and varied combinations of genres vs Xbox gamers which pretty much tends to the AAA or shooter centric genres with a couple of unique titles sprinkled here or there. MS knows how to make money and they know what sells. That is for sure and they are proving it right now with less titles to their name than Sony (in general).

You're becoming too much subjective here by saying stuff like " Sony blew their loads and threw all their cards on the table" while we know for facts that they have more studios working on unnannounced projects, we know they have 3 new games to announce in coming months by Sony Bend( a "AAA" game for what we know), Quantic Dream ( same )and Japan Studio ( surely Gravity Rush 2 , would be" AAA" by your definition) and also a game from Level 5, they could announced Gran Turismo soon too based on the leaks . They have still 3 conferences PGW, TGS and PSX, while Microsoft has only one with GC. So you see the reality isnt really as it seems

Sony did blow their load in 2015 (meaning besides the mid tier titles theres not much of note. They saved their E3 by basically revealing 2016-2017 hype) , most of what they showed had nothing to do with 2015. They essentially leaked most of 2016 while Microsoft held those cards close to their chest until Gamescom. The only real new IP Microsoft unveiled is Recore and....just WTF to that game. I dunno. We shall see, but I am pumped about Gamescom for sure. Thats pretty much what E3 was...securing 2015 for MS and Sony preparing everyone for 2016.

You think someone who say Halo isnt a Goty contender has no respect for what this game has done for FPS, but what about someone who refuses to see Persona 5 , high quality sequel, as a big goty contender not respecting what this cult RPG  brought to RPG's world ? That is the real downplaying. If you are not into these games or dont know them, it's okay but just know they are not considered as high quality games gamers and reviewers for nothing.

Persona is always in the best RPG category just like Halo is in the best FPS, its just that Halo is more often than not considered for GOTY since creation. It should be considered common sense by now that Halo 5 will be a front runner.

PS : And still, i dont understand how TR would count in AAA line up since it's only timed, so it's an artificial and false exclusive, i get that for you it makes it better, but it's just getting the game a bit sooner than others, not a big, deal it's like if we counted TR 2 PS4 version in AAA games in 2016 for PS4, when you will look back in 6 months, the 2015 X1  line up will be much more empty without Tomb Raider timed exclusive

Its timed, but its exclusive for 2015. There is no way around that no matter how much you try to rationalize that. No doubt Microsoft will throw it in Sony's face with bundles as well so get ready for the holidays. The Xbox hype is going to be pretty big for Black Friday even though Sony will win the year.

Gears, Halo and Tomb Raider (with a little Forza on the side) is enough to secure what Sony cannot fight for in 3rd and 4th quarter.

Words are a thing and easily twisted, facts are stronger proofs the facts show they can produce a lot of what you call AAA and it seems they can produce many more exclusives than Microsoft who has to make deals to get false exclusives for a time, which is a problem since when you'll make a summary at the beginning of 2016, you'll get a lot less exclusives AAA or not on xbox one because of timed deals, that's not rationalizing, just facts, that's the problem losing money on false exclusive, the console quickly loses more and more identity, instead of investing more on their own studio like Sony.

So thats what i was saying, for you a AAA is a best seller, but like i said, as a gamer, it shouldnt be important to know a game is selling or not, Justin Bieber is not better than an other independant singer because he makes more money. It's good for shareholders, but as a gamer, i dont see why it matters to you that more people play the game, it doesnt make it better to know the game is like by most. COD is one of the best game ever, better than all these games because it sells a lot ? That doenst make sense from a gamer perspective, really.
Thats why it's better to use review to judge the year on each console, everything else is just too much subjective.

You surely didnt follow the coverage because they showed a lot of 2015 games, so untrue. And you cant say microsoft has more hidden cards for 2016 ( they just said they would announce only one new game at GC ) and that sony leaked most of them while they have a lot more to reveal based on what Yoshida said and what we know so i dont see how you come up with that conclusion Microsoft has more to reveal for 2016 while it's unlikely with only one conference and only one announcement based on their words.

Based on what i saw, Persona hasnt been considered less for GOTY when it released, same for Bloodborne, being a niche game doesnt prevent to be GOTY, remember Souls game like Bloodborne, they have been GOTY many times, more than Halo since the original in fact while they sell 5 times less. So based on recent past, it's more legitimate to consider them as better GOTY contender and it shows that sales have not so much to do with being a GOTY or not ...

Yes it's timed, then it only matters in term of sales, like you say to have big holidays, but it shouldnt be counted as an exclusive since it wont be exlcusive anymore soon after it's release, it's like if i was saying that Batman/COD/Star Wars/AC would be much better superior games on PS4 because timed exclusive content ( though it's the case for a lot of people ) that makes sense for you maybe but not for everyone else. So if we are talking about sales, it's an other subject, and i disagree on this since Sony has some great deals to have a big hype for holidays.

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

Again, the last three Halo games came in 6th, 9th and 10th place overall according to GOTY blog. The Halo franchise hasn't been a front runner since the original. I'm not saying that Halo 5 won't win any awards but if the past repeats itself (as it often does) expect it to get clobbered by Arkham Knight and The Witcher 3 (among others).

Things i've changed:

Added - Ender of Fire (PS4)
Added - Attacking Zegata (PS4)
Removed - Riptide GP2 (XBO)

I don't know if I should add Suikoden 3, its a PS2 classic?

Just keep it current gen. It makes it clearer.

The PS5 Exists.

I can't see any of your pictures... maybe a better image host service :(

Quite the list for PS4, but I would not count out the One just yet. It has their "Holy Trinity" coming out this year. I am not stating that the One will catch up to Sony worldwide. I am just saying that Microsoft having their big guns all releasing in one year surely helps them out in the United States.

How can you decide if a game is AAA or not without knowing the specific cost of a game ? You can only make a guess.  If for you, a AAA game is just a game with pretty graphics, that means a prettier game will be more AAA than an other ?

Remember when GTA was that "crappy looking" top down game? :D

What are you talking about? GTA has aged well and actually looks very awesomely real:
