Forums - Gaming - WiiU 1st party Holiday 2014 vs 2015

Which will sell better?

WiiU Holiday 2014 25 39.06%

WiiU Holiday 2015 39 60.94%

Total:64

So I was just thinking this:

Even though I like the games from WiiU's 1st party 2014 holiday better, 2015 holiday obviously has a larger lineup.

This is considering a 'holiday game' as anything launched within the extended Christmas shopping timeframe (September through December)

2014 Holiday

Hyrule Warriors

Bayonetta 1 & 2

Super Smash Bros

Captain Toad

2015 Holiday

Super Mario Maker

Yoshi's Wooly World

Fatal Frame 5 (I forgot about this one!)

Starfox Zero

Xenoblade Chronicles X

Animal Crossing : Amiibo Festival

Mario Tennis

4 vs 6 titles.

4 vs 7 titles

Now we know *why* Ninty fans are upset about this

1) No Zelda U

2) Yoshi and XCX were hoped to have been released WAY earlier

But nonetheless, I can't help but figure this year's holiday lineup combined will surely beat last year's holiday lineup - both in short term and long-term sales.

So I wager in terms of sales:

Mario Maker + Yoshi + Fatal Frame + Starfox + Xenoblade X + AC + Mario Tennis > Hyrule Warriors + Bayo 2 + Smash + Captain Toad

And that's even if they don't drop the price of the WiiU! But of course the other assumption is that *nothing* gets delayed.

Anyone want to take a bet?

I predict NX launches in 2017 - not 2016

You're missing Fatal Frame: Maiden of Black Water for 2015.

Indeed, I believe I will have an even better time with the Wii U this holiday.

Aaargh. I'm so stupid. I'll add that too!

Smash Bros was nothing.

Wii U will have a better holidays this year.

All that considered then, that makes an NX release in 2016 kind more doubtful doesn't it?

The market (not the internet) not even know what is the NX... will not damage the holidays 2015 sales.

Yeah I think the Holiday 2015 lineup will sell better.
It has more games and I think Super Mario Maker can sell a lot of copies with good marketing, XCX too.

No, no it doesn't.

2014 had Smash Bros. A major Nintendo IP.

2015 has a bunch of smaller/2nd/3rd party IPs.

Nintendo's 1st party teams didn't stop making games a few years ago that would cause none to show up this holiday. They instead shifted focus to NX software for an impending launch.

Quality > quantity , this is a good example, no game this year will reach SSB metascore

And this year WiiU will even sell les without big system seller like SSB and all the bad buzz about Nintendo giving up their console

Predictions for end of 2014 HW sales:

 PS4: 17m   XB1: 10m    WiiU: 10m   Vita: 10m

I predict that the Wii U will sell a total of 18 million units in its lifetime.

The NX will be a 900p machine
