No bother argueing then, you don't know what the fundamental aspects are to a Metroid game. Don't try to ruin a franchise just because it isn't for you. Metroid fans want exploration in their games otherwise it's not a true Metroid game.

You also don't seem to know the difference between a mistake and a lie. It's been since 2007 since I last played a Prime game. Excuse me for not remembering everything perfectly.

Lol true Metroid game. Prime in of itself is a spinoff. There's arguments for Prime not being a true Metroid game because it is an FPS. What you are doing is the same. Can people please not limit series to their own limited view.

Metroid, from the very first game, has always been about exploration, isolation, getting new powerups along the way, backtracking, ambience and atmosphere.

Both the 2D Metroid games as the Prime trilogy had all those elements. Thus they're all true Metroid games.

You can't change the core concepts of a franchise and expect fans to be ok with it.

As if the kick to the balls of Wii U owners wasn't enough, this looks like a freaking DS game.

No, this looks like a freaking DS game.

You can in a spin off. Metroid has also been about platforming. Something that diminished in the Prime spinoff Trilogy. Fans were fine. This game is a spin off of that spin off. Aside from looking like garbage, this is fine too.

Looks hardly much better if you ask me, besides screen resolution and texture filtering.

If you are putting Prime's Trilogy on that high a pedistal, you're the one who doesn't know the fundemental aspects of a Metroid game. If Prime cared about the "fundemental aspects of a Metroid game," it wouldn't be in the first person, there'd be way more platforming, and the level design would be vertical, and not horisontal like it is. It would have stayed retro futuristic instead of going in the stereotypical generic "scifi" direction that it did. You clearly know nothing about what it means to be a Metroid game if you're holding a spin off trilogy to such influential regards.

You aren't "remembering" the core about how a series you supposedly know the "fundementals" of is played. No one forgets how Prime is played, because there is literally no other franchise that plays like those games. That isn't something people just "forget."

The Metroid Prime games aren't spin-offs. Just the salty words from Sakamoto who can't stand that the Prime games are more popular and better than his own games. Sakamoto isn't the creator of Metroid, he can say whatever he wants, that won't make it true.

Hate to break it to you but Metroid is inspired by generic sci-fi movies like Alien/Aliens. Both the 2D and 3D games.

And the plot of the evil government plotting against the hero/heroine isn't generic sci-fi stuff? You know, like Metroid: Fusion and Other M.

Platforming is not what made Metroid Metroid. There's no hard platforming in any of the 2D Metroid games (unless you want to sequence break).

Next you'll tell me that Other M incapsulates what it's like to be Metroid better than the Prime games lol. You don't sound like a Metroid fan to me. Ask any Metroid fan what the core concept of the franchise is, they'll all answer exploration. Not platforming.

Looks worlds better if you ask me. Alien worlds.

You... Like the way the first two Primes controlled? I mean, I feel like this way is much better, and when they do butcher the Trilogy with an unessecary 4th main installment, I seriously hope they add this objective improvement.

Not really. But dual analogue controls are clunky compromises: technology has given us better ways to control games, and I look forward to the inevitable day when everyone starts to move on past them.

Geometry is still blocky as hell, textures are shite. This is the same system that can produce this:

Federation Force looks a lot closer to Prime Hunters than to RE Revelations

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon looks just as bad, but it has a better artstyle than this Metroid game, so it wasnt as noticable. But somehow I see people state on the internet that Luigi's Mansion is some fine looking game, it really isn't.

I don't find NLG a very good developer tbh. I threw away LM: DM during that level with the invisible time limit.

But this game sealed the deal for me.

Not a real Metroid game...

...It's called a spin off.

I think most of us were wanting/expecting to get an actual Metroid game before getting a spin off-  now we are getting a spin off but no Metroid game for the Wii u at all
