Forums - Gaming Discussion - Sony still not pursuing backwards compatible for PS4.

They cant do it. They built a service around that. BC for PS4 destroys there building blocks. This time MS landed a good blow to Sony.

People are missing a big point here. What if you want to save a hundred bucks or so and trade in your last gen console while getting to keep your favourite back catalogue of games. That's a big selling point in my opinion.

Xbox 360 and Xbox One

eh who cares really? i already have my PS3, so it honestly doesnt effect me.

ya me too, its basically my blue ray player for my bedroom now(PS4 in living room)... but if I had to urge to play a PS3 game its right there.

Come to think of it the only plus to the PS4 having BC would be because the DS4 is far Superior to the DS3. So I could play old games with my DS4. That said no interest in old games right now.

you can play some PS3 games on PS3 with your DS4. if it is connected with a wire.

I don't see why BC is a big deal but that's just me. Its not really a feature that many take advantage of when it's there but yet people complain when it's not there. And the feature is nearly 2 years late. Should have been on the X1 when it launched.

I must say, i really give a Shit about that, because with Bo3 my PS3 will be "Dead" i think. Also the Graphics and that wont be better, so i dont care, maybe for Xbox-Players who switched their Console would something like that be great. For me, i give a Shit, also Sony wont do that because of PS Now.

Most people don't sell there old consoles so backward compatibility is not a necessity

PS4 - over 100 millions let's say 120m
Xbox One - 70m
Wii U - 25m

Vita - 15m if it will not get Final Fantasy Kingdoms Heart and Monster Hunter 20m otherwise
3DS - 80m

I don't think it's even possible to emulate PS3 with PS4 but emulating PS1 and PS2 shouldn't be a problem.

Would much nore happier about because it wouldnt restricted like 360 BC is and dont forget they could make the PS1 and PS2 games region free

I don't think they will do anything with BC at this point. It would be very limited if they tried like it will be on the xbox one. The console would need to be designed with BC in mind.

One can't be emulated on a top of the line PC?

How do people expect a console with low-tier PC components to emulate it?

That being said they should emulate the PSVita, PS2, PS1.

Sony already has BC, its called PS Now and they invested hundreds of millions in it.
