I think this is a complete bastardisation of the franchise but who am I to say that this game won't be good or that there aren't people who would really like to play it.

I don't think the matter is any better or worse than people bemoaning the rise of casual games. If you don't like the look of a game and it isn't for you don't buy it, but don't be so arrogant as to think you should have any say on what others get to play, you don't speak for them.

It's a 4 player Co-op shooter set in the metroid universe, actually sounds pretty cool to me.
Oh and the footage we were shown was evidently not what the final game would graphically look like.

Why would you sign something like that? Cancelling the game isn't going to make a real Metroid appear.

I'm not a Metroid fan by all means, but it's ridiculous to petition to cancel a game due to some people disliking it. I think time and money has been spent already on it and development already made progress. This is only diminishing the relevance for petitions.
