Forums - Sony Discussion - Is it possible that The Last Guardian might be.............. boring?

A lot of people hated both ICO and SOTC.

People forget that Ueda games aren't universally loved. In fact only a minority of gamers and press actually enjoyed the PS2 games.

A very niche type of game that will be enjoyed, mostly by gamers who liked previous Ueda works.

and people with a heart

Umm have you played a Team ICO game? This is kind of their thing. They make puzzle games.

Sigs are dumb. And so are you!

Watching a play through of a puzzle game is never very exciting.
Playing it yourself, exploring the unique world, figuring things out and getting a connection with the characters is what it's all about. Not jumping around and killing things.

Im one of them. I wont say I hated ICO and SOTC, but I've tried to play them a few times and just found them lacking. Frustrating controls and sometimes boring gameplay. Wish I could enjoy them though, especially SOTC, the concept is just great.

I'd say it looks similar to Ico.

If you didn't like Ico, you might not like this.

It looks a lot like Ico so it's guaranteed to be a boring game.

I was excited about the prospect of this game several years ago. After the surprise of seeing it again wore off, I found that I wasn't impressed by it anymore. It just doesn't have my interest this much later. Furthermore, it doesn't look much different from its debut on PS3 and looked pretty dated at Sony's conference next to games like Uncharted, Horizon, and Battlefront.

I am not sure about what the game actually is. It does look interesting, though, but I was surprised by the framerate and the visuals in general. For a PS3 game ported to PS4 it looks not that good but that isn't what makes these games stand out.

I like Ico and SotC and this reminds me of them. It is also very unique among gaming right now so it stands out and makes me so excited.

After the excitement that this game finally exists wore off and I was watching the gameplay I was slightly underwhelmed as to the gameplay that was being shown. I mean I figured there would some combat and you would have the ability to command the bird dog to interact with the enviroment or other characters/enemies if not control it while you traverse the sky temple. And now it seems there might not even be combat in this game at all which is fine too but I just can't help feel let down with what I saw. Thoughts?

have you played ICO or SotC?

it's a puzzle game with a uniquely and hightly emotional attachement.  "exciting" isn't the word for this and was never the intent,.. think more along the line of myst then CoD.   ...and that's why i'll love it.   i find CoD boring and could never be happy only playing shooters.  i understand there are people that only like shooters and that's okay but i like diversity in my games and that's why i'll like TLG and why i like sony's first party, it's very well rounded.
