To get to the point right at the beginning: I fucking hate this trailer and what they are apparently doing with this game

Since the first (also horrible) gameplay trailer for this was shown a couple months ago this game was basically dubbed a Persona clone. I personally don't have a problem with them making another game similar to Persona, after all I love that series, but judging by those trailers it seems like they are trying to take Persona and make it as cheap and "Otaku-appealing" as possible, which bugs me to no end, since this is a game by the same damn dev.

Now I'm not going to act as if Persona isn't trying to appeal to Otaku culture, but it does so within sensible limits. Just think back to Persona 5s first PV, that thing boasted so much confidence, so much style, such great music, it just knew it was good.

What does this trailer have? Boobs and boob physics. Horrible JPOP. A weird JPOP group theme going on, with cheesy choregraphed dance sessions. And for the female fans they also put in some male "hunk" with anime washboard abs. It just all seems like they have this potentially great game at the core and are smearing as much shit over it as they can.

I'm personally of the opinion that there are 2 types of weirdness to japanese games, the fun, unique and sometimes just crazy weirdness of titles like MGS or Devil May Cry and the creepy "I don't want to be associated with this" weirdness of something like Onechanbara. The first case is something that japanese games should embrace imo and I feel Persona 5 is going to fit into that category well, the other is one that they should really dial down a little and I feel that SMTxFE is really moving towards that category.

1) It's Atlus and Intelligent Systems..... it's going to be good.

2) SMT x FE was all it was titled. Which did not indicate anything about the game other than references from both series, which in this case it takes elements from both into a new IP. (along with some familiar characters)
They did NOT promise ANYTHING when they first announced it and did not say ANYTHING about what it was going to be.

3) This is your opinion. Make sure you put that in your statement. If it doesn't appeal to you, don't get it. But do not go around saying it is a "fact" the game sucks or the trailers suck. Because in my opinion, I love the trailers and think the game is shaping up VERY nicely.

I think it looks great. I can endure/enjoy a lot of styles, there's pretty much only one that I'm "allergic" to and it's not this one.

I didn't say anything about the first 2 points and of course this is my opinion, I hope that's clear from the OP.

I agree, I don't like the style, looks like a cheap japanese rythm game.
