Its very obvious Nintendo have given up on Wii U and I shall not be buying the NX. I am skipping Nintendo next gen, we need time apart. Thank goodness I woke up and got a PS4, today was a very low point for me with Nintendo :(

That conference surely didn't do anything to install confidence for nintendo not abondoning WiiU in me.
After this, I really feel like they've moved development focus onto something else. Probably NX.
I still love my WiiU and it has some great games, but this was just dissappointing.
| Alkibiádēs said: I'm not going to buy their NX that's for sure. Probably will never buy Nintendo hardware again. Wii U is dead and I wish the 3DS was dead. All those games looked like PS1 quality. Nintendo is done in the home console market. No one is going to buy it after the Wii U. |
I certainly don't hope so.
As I wrote in another thread the industry needs another successful Nintendo home console as Nintendo's exclusive library coupled with every multiplat would make the defnitive console.
I prefer when Nintendo innovate through gameplay rather than hardware so I really hope their next home console has specs, architecture and controller blessed by 3rd party developers (it's crucial to have the multiplats like GTA, COD, FIFA, MGS, FF, RE, AC, BF, TES, Fallout, Red Dead, Far Cry, ME, DA, etc.).
Additionally, I hope they have solid launch (or launch window) exclusives including exciting new IPs and highly demanded exclusives like an ultimate 3D "The Pokémon Adventure" (why is this not a thing?), the rumored next-gen 3D Super Mario (let's call it Galaxy 3) and a full-blown Metroid or Zelda game (would be great if they could cater to both longtime fans and a larger, more mainstream audience with these two games).
For this to be possible I think Nintendo has to expand and add at least 1 more Western development studio (like Retro Studios) to their family of 1st party developers. Granted, it won't be cheap but Nintendo can afford it and if this could help them reach a larger audience they may as well do it now rather than later. Nintendo's Japanese developers will continue to provide the magical Nintendo games like Mario Kart, Smash Bros. and [insert random quaility Nintendo game]. So this can in no way be bad for the core fans.
This would be my dream next-gen home console from Nintendo and what I think could sell potentially huge numbers WW.
They're not, you're all just craving it, but it's not happening.
They specified that the event was going to focus on 2015/early 2016 games for both of their consoles. Dropping support means releasing 8 Wii U games (or more if the project games are released as well) in 6 months, starting with Yoshi.
3DS is also getting a few first party games as well.
Mario Maker, Yoshi, Fatal Frame, Xenoblade, Mario Tennis, Mario & Sonic, Animal Crossing, Devil's Third, and Star Fox. All 2015 games. 2016 has the Project games, Shin Megami Tensei/Fire Emblem, Zelda, and whatever games they decided NOT to announce today. Geeez, if that's dropping support, then Sony literally set Vita on fire, PS4 is being kicked in the balls with next to zero first party releases this year (not including remasters of already existing games).
Chill out, they're support for Wii U has not been dropped.

... Really, Nintendo?

I agree with you, if they abandon the console too fast I will not buy the next one, it does not generates confidence in my investment. That said, I am confident that they are not going to leave the Wii U to die just yet, they will support it at least for all the 2016 and the new console will come in 2017. They mentioned before the presentation that it will focus on games releasing on 2015 and early 2016, and they could be leaving some games in development for a later Direct.
Like others have mentioned. They said beforehand that this E3 direct will focus on games releasing up until Q1 2016 (meaning 2015 and the part of 2016 that is included in the winter quarter of 2015.)
