Every company has second-screen stuff. Nothing about this was a 'shot taken' at Nintendo. The joke was at the expense of Bethesda themselves. "Look at this stupid gimmicky shit we made. You're all gonna buy it anyway because it's rad and you want it, but man is it dumb and unnecessary."
