It'll do fine as long as they market it
It will sell: | |||
| More than 1.8M | 57 | 86.36% | |
| Less than 1.8M | 9 | 13.64% | |
| Total: | 66 | ||
It will absolutely sell better than Into the Nexus, it comes down to whether it will be the 2nd, 3rd or 4th worst selling game in the franchise.

I have no doubt reboot will be the most accurate way to label this game. It's just not just a remake, so what else are we going to call it? |
A reboot means they're starting the franchise over again. They're not. They're just bringing the first game up to snuff with the later entries because it's lacks a lot of things that have become staples of the franchise. They're also adding in some new parts of the story to coincide with the movie, but none of those things break the continuity from the original game.
It's a reimagining of the first game, just as they originally explained it.

What they've been calling it since day one. A reboot means they're resetting the franchise. It's a re-imagining. It's based on the movie's retelling of the first game, but they're not resetting canon and suddenly going to do the entire series all over again. If the first game played like the others we wouldn't even have this game, because all it does differently is gameplay style and the addition of later elements (Megacorp, Fongoids, etc.). Literally whole sections of the game from what they've shown off are exactly the same.
So yeah, re-imagining. Recanonizing. Not reboot, as insomniac has stated before that they don't want to undo everything they've done just because of the movie.
You should check out my YouTube channel, The Golden Bolt! I review all types of video games, both classic and modern, and I also give short flyover reviews of the free games each month on PlayStation Plus to tell you if they're worth downloading. After all, the games may be free, but your time is valuable!

But it is. Dafuq?
Those were different times, now consoles get less exclusives so people will hype them up even more

I'm pretty sure that's what they're doing. If we see more R&C games they'll follow this new one, nothing will continue the previous games.

But they're not.

"Responding to a number of fans on Twitter yesterday and today, Insomniac made it clear that the upcoming Ratchet and Clank game is not a reboot of the series as many seem to think, but a re-imagining of the first Ratchet and Clank. This re-imagining will also have tie-ins to the upcoming Ratchet and Clank movie, set to arrive in 2015."

That doesn't say it's not what they're doing, it just says they're not calling it a reboot.
Unless of course what they're telling us is that this'll be the last R&C game. In which case yes, it'd just be a re-imagining.
