Forums - Gaming Discussion - Why are big third party blockbusters skipping the wii u?

They are evil and are jealous of nintendo

Bet reminder: I bet with Tboned51 that Splatoon won't reach the 1 million shipped mark by the end of 2015. I win if he loses and I lose if I lost.

Ask the developers..... If the situation really is what you're describing, then I'm sure they'll still be supporting the WII U up to this day.

well i do know the german game developers "piranha bytes" who are making rpg games called risen. Those games usual sell around 200-300k copies and are released for pc and console. They have voice acting in their games, own enginge, porting cost to consoles, marketing cost, motion capturing, localization and co. And the games are pretty huge.

The developer team is around 30 people.

So if they are doing profit with making complete new games + porting them to console by selling the same number as a big  blockbuster sell on wii u (even if thats poorly comparing to ps/xbox) i cant see why a wii u version wouldnt make profit to be honest.

There is like no way a wii u port of assassins creed would be more expensive as a compelte new game with all the included costs like risen 3.

have you played Risen 3? pretty much all assests are recycled form past games. Which is why its so cheap. is that what you want? cheap games?

Fixed it for you, I thought you would have learned this by now.

Because they don't sell and the hardware is too weak.
It just doesn't make sense for them.
Ubisoft and EA did support the Wii U at the beginning, but the games didn't sell really well.
Also developing for Wii U is harder than for PS4 / Xbox One afaik.

This.

3rd party blockbusters are skipping the Wii U, because there aren't enough players that buy their games on Nintendo consoles.
That is the fault of Nintendo, because Nintendo do not have the IPs, and exclusives, that compete with the same market as games like AC or CoD or GTA.

Why should you buy a Wii U over a PS4 or XB for Destiny/Titanfall/Call of Duty/Assassins Creed, if you don't get other games from their respective genres, like you do from Sony or Microsoft?

3rds are not bound to one console or the other, so why should they put in the ressources to build up said player base?

And as others in this thread have said, they'll make more money having those 30 people working on another project.

Yeah but they might be people who would enjoy cod/destiny/titanfally/AC AND zelda/mario kart/co

they are called multiplat owners

Didn't watchdogs sell like 30K total so far on WiiU... and thats after a year of dev costs and time?

i have a question? why keep asking this, when you are going to get the same answers that you wont like anyway.

It seems people keep asking this are just looking for others to share their narrow and flat out wrong view and jump on the whole 3rd parties is evil train. Problem is most people with common sense know that isnt true, so whats the point really?

yeah i played it. And yeah they recycled alot, but still it cant be cheaper to make those games completly "from scratch" and port to 2 consoles (ports where horrible though) and make profit but just making a port, sell same numbers and dont make profit.

They still had marketing costs (risen 3 had a cgi trailer), voice action, localization costs.
