I dont think that the story of the boy adventurer going to save the princess has the same ring to it if its the girl adventurer going to save the princess. Maybe if we get male Zelda too, it would make more sense.
This all sunds like a can of worms to me. Best to just stick to what it works because its going to devolve into a sexual orientation debate. Unless they just ask you the sex of both at the start and everyone can go with what they want.
