Forums - Sales - Nintendo Screwing Up: The production claim

You're right, it's currently out of stock, but you really need to get a life. It was a simple mistake, no need to be impolite. Were you unable to buy a Wii or something?

I need to get a life? And you call me impolite? You made these availability claims before and almost everytime I actually checked them I found them to be incorrect, at least at the moment I looked. So I feel you are making too many statements without checking them for accuracy. And when that happens too many times you stand a chance of being accused of lying. Maybe that word is a bit harsh, but it might help your credibility if you check things before making certain claims, as well as being careful to make general claims (like "it is easily available in The Netherlands" versus "it is available in the part of The Netherlands where I live")

This is how MikeB works.  He'll make ridiculous statements unsupported by fact, or outright incorrect, that fit his worldview.  That's how MikeB is, and I recommend you just ignore his posts as valueless, since they'll be full of incorrected or unsubstantiated information like, "it is easy to manufacture lots of Wiis" without even doing a little research on manufacturing.

WHY CAN'T I SEE THE FIRST PAGE? This is an interesting thread from what I managed to piece together, but I can't read it. I'm going to check my laptop to see if it is just Wii Opera.

Opera has been having troubles with the site ever since the update, at least the 9.5 betas on both OS X and XP. I haven't tried the Wii's opera or any of the stable ones, but at least for the beta I've been (and would recommend others do as well) reporting problems with the page.

1) WiiFit will outsell the pokemans.
Current Status: 2009.01.10 70k till PKMN Yellow (Passed: Emerald, Crystal, FR/LG)

I think you're accusing the wrong people of stockpiling. I happen to know for a fact that at least one retailer was hoarding units for the Smash Brothers launch. WAL-MART.

I went to Sam's Club in Parkersburg West Virginia last Saturady and they had 57 Wii's. Let that sink in ...... 57! That's more than I saw the entire Christmas holiday and I worked for EB!. This was also at one location in basically the middle of nowhere. There are over one thousand Sam's Clubs in the country and this was a nationwide event.

Now the question becomes, Why would retailers stockpile? The answer should be pretty obvious. they make more money on the games and accessories than the systems. therefore, the more systems you have to sell the more game you will sel which makes you a ton more money than selling a couple at a time.

<sigh>

Remember those fiscal predictions for '07-'08?

Know how Ninty is spot on hitting them, even after upping forecasts a few times?

See how there are a few "smash hits" to be released in April?

Know how the new fiscal year starts April 1st?

Guess what happens to all these "other" (stockpiled) units in April (not surprisingly, the same thing that happened last April) - they get released.

...

Sales will be spot on 24m (or close) at end of March '08... then sales will EXPLODE starting April. Its that simple. As before, the real question is this: what will Ninty's Wii forecast for '08-09 be?

The Wii is in stock in the Netherlands. I found consoles for sale on the first two sites I visited. If you can't find one you're not looking very hard.

The entire thread is based on the assumption that ioi's figures are 100 % accurate. Don't you see any problems with that?

Are you sure we aren't just using the figures as good estimates, just like NPD's numbers and other numbers are good estimates? (Or: what are you trying to say?)

P.S. I like your signature.

They charge you with a 19% BTW, By the way?

lol, seriously talking Nintendo needs to stockpile for the releases of Smash, Mario Kart and Wii Fit in the states.

Mario Kart and Wii Fit in Europe.

Mario Kart in Japan.

All of these on Q2. If Nintendo releases those games without Wiis being available, dont you think people will want to kill them?

^good point Linkzmax... they might let themselves exceed it by a little though, for the sake of cockiness.

does anyone know why I can't view page 1? The VGC tabs bar loads but everything below remains blank (I'm on Wii Opera but never had this before)

Yeah, Wii Opera breaks down on VGChartz since the site update. If a page has about 30 posts or less it loads fine, much more than that and it won't load. :(
