Good hardware, good pricing, recognizable brand, customer trust that console will have great, both 1st and 3rd party, games, as well that Sony will support it for a long time.

Well it's quite simple. They are the most expensive. Everyone knows being the most expensive is super important. Next, they have no games. Confucius say system with no game, sell plenty. So they got that downpacked. And lastly, bionic hype that fades for nothing. You could kneecap this hype and it would still be endless. This is how the PS4 is winning.
Thanks jlmurph!

Better hardware, better name recognition worldwide, better policies out of the gate, better price point, word of mouth and they had some pretty good momentum that carried over from the latter stages of the PS3 era.
There is no one sole reason, it's a multitude of reasons but I think to sum it up in one would be: the PS4 is selling so well because it is the best console of the 3 for most people.
Because one guy hit a homerun, while the other guy tripped over his own legs.... the 3rd guy only plays softball.
Because they give what most of the gamers want and learned from the only gen they have lost.
