Forums - Nintendo - The DLC cancer is spreading in Atlus games

I love how Yggdrasil Veteran is listed as "permanently free" which is radically different from this entire list, lol.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."

boycott altus for now! cant stand those DLC annonce even before game it out!

they just cut part of game and release has DLC....

At least it's cheap. $2-2.50 instead of $15. Sigh.

DLC is the future.

Oh cool another game that has a lot of free DLC up to August.

If the content doesn't take away anything meaningful its still not a big deal. But if you're stuck with a file status that says incomplete because you didn't buy DLC, then that's pretty messed up.

Then again Mario Kart 8 does tease the 4 dlc tracks you can buy in all race modes which is distracting for those who don't want to buy them. It also prevents you from getting all stamps in the game. Fortunately, MK8 dlc was extremely affordable.

Smash Bros actually does it right by not showing Mewtwo in the character screen with a lock next to it.

I dont see anything wrong their, atlus is a small company unlike EA or Nintendo. Somehow they have to fund their niche games, its the same way like funding kickstarters for smaller studios.

Well, not exacly. If you add them all up you get over 18$

Like Rol pointed out, that's hardly a good price for what we're getting. Add to this how their games are now $50 instead of $40, and it's fair to say that bad consumer practices appear to be increasingly common with Atlus.

Leaving aside how Atus is owned by Sega, where do we draw the line on this line of thinking? Is it okay for a one-man studio to charge extra for a game's sidequests, but forbidden for Activision to do the same? I'm honestly curious: while I reject this line of thinking generally, I would like to hear where the end is drawn.

This is a small handheld title, but most "season passes" I've seen add up to being 50%-100% of the original cost of the game. I generally wait for GOTY editions on games I know are going to be DLC-heavy. But then there's Fallout 4....

There was a certain degree of sarcasm in my post that didn't come across. :)
