Forums - Nintendo - so i just start plating metroid prime..

Make sure you are using the advanced control option, works much better. Traversal through the game is something that gets more enjoyable as Samus gets her upgrades. It feels slightly stiff at first but when you start to get your powers back and earn a few new ones, it all starts to fall into place.

One you'll get used to the WiiMote/Nunchuck you won't trade it to anything else in FPS...

During fights you can lock onto the target which might help on some of the nasty mini bosses - the faster they move the more useful locking is.

Have a great time - even when the Prime series is slow paced compared to todays standards.

I also think this. After I played prime 3 corruption, I just dint want to go back to regular controllers or mouse for a FPS, Although an exeption had to be made for bioshock.

I first hated this game for being so diferent than the stardart metroids I was used to, primeraly being a FP game, but I quickly fell in love with this game.

It takes genuine talent to see greatness in yourself despite your absence of genuine talent.

double post

my internet connection crapped out for me sorry.

this is my first metroid game. Bought it from the eshop when it launch and finally start playing it today

...

it took me awhile to understand how this game works. any tips for a begginer like me? would like to hear some recommendation for the controls as well

Ended up writing a lot. Hope this all helps!

Use advanced settting for motion controls. It may make you dizzier since the screen moves every time you move your aim off center but it's more intuitive than pointing at the side of the screen to make your look-camera (your first person camera) move . And if you're still getting dizzy, just focus on the action in the middle of the screen when you're moving your look-camera. Then slowly check the rest of your peripheral vision.

You should always scan any debris or cracks that either look fragile or block your path. Chances are they are made up of a material that is weak to one of your weapons. You can always check Samus' notes for each weapon when you press the 2 button to find what material a particular weapon can destroy. For example, talloric, brinstone, and benzium are common materials in the game that either your morph bombs, missile launcher, or power bomb can destroy. Sometimes the game just says something looks fragile but it doesn't specify what material so you have to try a combination of the three or a charge beam shot. I believe some materials are weak to a super missile as well but I forgot what material that is.

As others said, scan everything you can or anything that looks important since there a lot of puzzles that involve Samus hacking into things with her scan visor. There's also a small collect-a-thon at the end of the game where scanning lore and pirate data will guide you where the collectibles are.

Once you get the space jump boots, you'll be able to strafe your enemies better if you Z target them. The instruction manual and Samus's note on the space jump boots provides a good description of how so check it out. It basically lets you strafe around your opponent much quicker because the space jump boots provide you have a midair jump. It's quite similar to how Link does his sidestep jump when you Z/L - target an enemy in the 3D Zelda games. However, some bosses will take advantage of players who mindlessly time their mid air jump during Z targeting, so watch out for that!

Lastly, you may want to make the sound effect option louder than the music option if you're low on missiles upgrades and energy tanks. Collectibles actually emit a unique looping sound when you get near them and if the music is really low, you can hear them across the room.

Oh and if you played Super Metroid before, this Samus isn't very athletic or fast, but you've probably noticed this by now. She's more like a heavy utility robot with a lot of strong weapons. On the plus side, you don't have to worry about intensive action reflexive gameplay.

Well that's all I can think of for now. Good hunting!

Edit: Wow I completely missed your first sentence lol. Ignore the comparision to Super Metroid.

Turn off hint system. Also...you can adjust the controls to advanced. Don't get frustrated when you get lost...enjoy it.

Oh wow, so you've just now beat the Space Station or whatever it's called? That's like a tiny little teaser for the awesomeness ahead.

Like everyone said, scan everything in each room. It gives you more backstory, hints, and will open up secrets in the game. This game is much more about exploration than shooting. Consult guides/walkthroughs as you need when you're stuck.

Take frequent breaks, sit farther back from the TV, chew some ginger candy (helps with nausea/motion sickness), and keep pushing forward. You only experience this game for the first time once and it should be savored.

Btw, as painful as it is for you, the motion controls are a much deeper, immersive, improved experience than the original Gamecube controls. At least, imo.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

One of the best games ever. Enjoy your playthrough!

I Think it is the distance between screen and me is what makes difference for me. I have no problem playing hours of CS with my cousin with my laptop. It might because mouse gives me better controls of camera but i am still not used to motion control yet

When I dusted off my Gamecube last year and re-played Metroid Prime I was getting headaches as well.  The problem was that I was using an older model of LCD TV where there was ghosting (blurring) during fast camera movements.  Switching to a newer and better quality TV fixed the problem completely.

I'm jealous, though.  Metroid Prime is such an amazing game and you are in for a real treat.  I only ever got stuck one time because the game was so expertly designed.  The part where I got stuck was (spoiler):

When you are trying to get accross a large expanse later in the game and you see water droplets splattering in mid-air it is not because of poor hit-detection, it's actually an invisible platform that can only be seen using the X-Ray visor. ;)

thanks for all the replies! all of them are useful-u guys are awesomee :D
i have now reached the frozen land (forgot the name again:P), it took me awhile to figure out where/what should i do, but its getting better and better now.
also turned on the advanced control, which helps a lot in controlling the camera.
my problem with 1st person in tv is getting better as i am getting used to the camera angle. However i still have to control my game time less than 2 hours to prevent headache (it really kills me when it starts).

ps: i know u guys will hate me for saying this, but i wish there is more tutorial/explanation for beginner like me (something that able to switch them on/off in option). when i just reach talloon iv after the space station i have no idea whats going on or what to do

sry for my bad english - it is not my 1st language

That's Metroid for you! It's more about exploration and some epic boss battles! But once you get more suit upgrades, you'll be able to navigate the world much quicker and easier!

Also, you can always turn the hint system on in the game's setting if you're struggling to find your next destination. The hint system will tell you what room to investigate but it won't reveal the pathway to it. This may seem like a drawback but personally I find it more fun to explore the necessary pathway myself.
