Forums - Nintendo - Could Nintendo Publish and Release Fast Racing Neo at Retail??

But they won't, so why are we even entertaining it?

Around the Network

They could, but they probably view it as too much of a risk to invest too much. It's a smaller genre, no denying that. I think it could be a good idea, personally. But it would be better to re-enter the futuristic racing genre with a more recognizable brand like F-Zero than a fairly unknown brand like FAST Racing.

Ask Shin'en and see what they say:

My first impulse was that as a $10-20 eshop game it might not have enough content to justify a full fledged retail release, but hell, Mighty No.9 is getting one...

They can and they should!

Shin'en has been a great developer to them over the years, and giving the game a retail presence would only strengthen the ties between the two. Not to mention that Fast Racing Neo looks like a pretty awesome game, so it would be a benefit to the Wii U to give a game like that exposure.

All of this, but especially the bolded. Seems like they've had a great working relationship over the past couple generations and it'd be a nice way to pay back that loyalty.

Also, the game looks awesome and a subgenre the Wii U is lacking. A couple ads around release time and I think the game could do ok at retail. I'll be buying it for sure.

It'll be awhile before I figure out how to do one of these. :P

Would be awesome if they did

Could they? Yes.
Should they? Maybe.
Will they? No.

It looks amazing and could add an awful lot to the system, being promoted by Nintendo could help out greatly. However it's highly unlikely this will happen.

Here lies the dearly departed Nintendomination Thread.

Ok so obviously most Nintendo fans saw the Fast Racing Neo screens on this site.

What if Nintendo picked it up and published it at retail.

They could advertise it to both wipeout and fzero fans and the give it an ad or two.

I think it would do well at retail and the holidays could surely help it.

Thoughts about it?

Sony would have done that... nintendo use $ on non self publushed games? good one.

abit of a over exageration... to make a point.

probably one of the reason sony has so many 3rd party developers,

sony actually does lend a hand from time to time, with release/marketing/developement ect.

Nintendo come off looking like they much rather just pocket that money themselfs, than invest in their own consol bussiness.

Teslagrad got a retail release also:

...and I suspect Shin'en are leaving for PS4 if they do not get the sales on Wii U/3DS. They put PS4 first in their presentation:

We develop high quality games for PlayStation 4, Wii U, Nintendo 3DS, Wii, Nintendo DS, Game Boy Advance and Game Boy Color using proprietary tools.   http://www.shinen.com/home/

EDIT: Retail releases of smaller games: NES Remix, Ducktales and some other that are more of DL games like Funky Barn,

They could, they wont.

Was in JB HiFi today and saw 4 indie games with physical releases sitting next to each other... all $50 each despite being <$30 on PSN
