Forums - Nintendo - Will we get a Zelda game this Christmas?

Hyrule Warrior's was annunced in December 2013.

Neither of those games were announced at E3. Hyrule Warriors was announced via Nintendo Direct in December 2013. Wind Waker HD was announced via Nintendo Direct in January 2013.

As much of a hypocrite as I am for saying it, as I've spoke ill on remakes in the past, I'd like to see Skyward Sword HD. Such a beautiful art style that just didn't transfer well to HD. Just an upscaled release for like 20 bucks would be fine.

3 remakes, a direct sequel and a spinoff. Yes, it is for fans that wants new content.

Stop speaking on behalf of the entire Zelda fanbase, because myself and as well as others I know have enjoyed these games. I am aware that not everyone wants these games, but as far as Zelda goes, there is always a division between the Zelda fanbase.

I echo Toxy's sentiment.

Furthermore, the thing with remakes is, provided they don't get in the way of the major releases, there is no harm with them, you can chose not to play them.

Also Hyrule Warriors IS new content, it's new gameplay for the franchise with the familiar Zeldas themes throughout. Just as a new Zelda game would be.  Now it may not be the new content that you or I were after but it's new nonetheless.

OT: no I don't think so.

I agree with the consensus that there will be no Zelda game this Christmas. Hyrule Warriors worked only because nobody was expecting Zelda U to be released in 2014. That is not the case this year and there is still huge disappointment around the delay of Zelda U as well as the unsubstantiated rumors that Zelda U is being ported to NX (another small Zelda title right now is only going to fuel those rumors and make people angrier).

In short, the gaping hole that is left by Zelda U in Nintendo's fall line-up cannot be filled by another game like Hyrule Warriors. If Nintendo wants to make their fans less angry about the Zelda U delays then they need to look to another big name franchise this year. A proper 3D Metroid game might be able to accomplish this.

I hope you're all wrong that are saying November 2016. It would make sense, but I'm really hoping for Q1 maybe Q2 2016 for Zelda U.

Not happening. It would be at E3. Did no one else notice how Trinen was adament about making it clear that E3 this year wouldn't have info out of this year and "early" next year? This is the second time we've heard this. It's not happening. Zelda U for NX, baby.

Well if NX is 2016. it will come on NX too, but think NX is 2017. thing, so no.

A Link Between Worlds, Wind Waker HD, also Aonuma was supervisor on OoT, Hyrule Warriors and MM3D.

So basically, and as I always said, wasting time.

4 Zelda games for fans is wasting time!? Ok, then.

3 remakes, a direct sequel and a spinoff. Yes, it is for fans that wants new content.

3 Remakes yes, direct sequel is new game evan if it is a sequel and Zelda U is new game, so 2 new games.

So this gen we will have 3 remakes, one spinoff and 2 new Zelda games. Its very good gen for Zelda fans (especially for people that didn't play that remakes before).

I still hope for Zelda U December-January release.

They didn't delay development of Zelda U just so they can make something else instead though. At least not according to Aonuma, going by what he said one would assume they're working on Zelda U full-time right now.

Still, Nintendo is unpredictable however so you never know what they'll have, but personally I'm not expecting anything. Guess we'll know in a few weeks, can't wait!

I am intrigued by that 'RTS-Zelda' spin-off idea though .

This is something that bother me. What were they doing before to not be full-time? Because as far as I know, Hyrule Warriors was developed by Namco, and both OoT and MM3D for Grezzo. That's a very interesting point. Maybe helping on other game? A new handheld game?

I was thinking about A Link Between Worlds actually,  which took up at least half their time, but you're right, that game was released one-and-a-half year ago... They probably have a few guys thinking of concepts for a next original game like they always do, but they should have plenty of time dedicated to working on Zelda U since a while now. E3 can't come fast enough.
