I agree with the consensus that there will be no Zelda game this Christmas. Hyrule Warriors worked only because nobody was expecting Zelda U to be released in 2014. That is not the case this year and there is still huge disappointment around the delay of Zelda U as well as the unsubstantiated rumors that Zelda U is being ported to NX (another small Zelda title right now is only going to fuel those rumors and make people angrier).
In short, the gaping hole that is left by Zelda U in Nintendo's fall line-up cannot be filled by another game like Hyrule Warriors. If Nintendo wants to make their fans less angry about the Zelda U delays then they need to look to another big name franchise this year. A proper 3D Metroid game might be able to accomplish this.
