Should there be legitimate concern about Halo and the future of the franchise? Both in quality and popularity. A few things have to be taken into account:
a.) Halo's Metacritic has been dropping since Reach (2010 release) & this trend doesn't look to change anytime soon. While scores are subjective there are still technical blunders in MCC and (IIRC) patches are being outsourced. While Halo 4's multiplayer was stable it still remains as the lowest score for a mainline Halo & Halo 5 will be around the same IMO.
b.) The decline of the NA userbase for the XOne will surely impact Halo 5's sales. Bundles will help but again as shown in current entries Halo has been declining since Reach. Halo is still a massive seller, sure, but even the CoD franchise has seen decline.
c. Bungie is multiplatform now.
