But you can buy a PS4 + games + controller + tretton at 400$...

I live in Italy, in this countrie, you can buy PS4 + FIFA 15 + The Order + 2 controller for 379.98€... so, even if we haven't a official pricedrop, those promotion are nearly at the the 250€ of Wii with Wii Sport.

One time, in July, PS4+FIFA 15 was selling for 199€ for all month. (Italy)

Well I'm talking about November 2013 to October 2014 so the Order wasn't out then.

The only major official deals were just bundles with games included in the bundle but even then it wasn't a free game. I got the Watch Dogs bundle in July the RRP in UK is £350 but it cost me £370.

The money spent on buying PS4's in the first year it outsold Wii is a lot greater than what was spent on Wii in the same time period. That's crazy impressive.

Well, in this case is better make a comparation PS4 first year VS Wii first year.

In this thread, i talk about Second year. Any way, currently, PS4 is down down YOY in the US... PS4 is still at 400€? Ok, but even the Wii was 250€ ---> 250€ for the second year, and the Wii sales are increase by 70% YOY... how much can increase PS4? (EVEN WITH A PRICEDROP?????)

some like 10/20 % ?????

The price is not the only reason. The Wii was just a beasting.

It'll inevitably beat the Wii. And rightfully so, it is in my opinion, the worst Nintendo system ever created the PS4's market share isn't surprising, especially given the competition (however I will give the X1 credit for trying to fix its image)

And? PS4 still will outsell Wii.

And so, so much people say that is so impressive 50% of marketshare, but even if Wii never hit, the Wii sales are much more impressive than other console.

...And not. PS4 will not sell 100,000,000.

PS3 is curerently at 85m. You don't think without a horrible launch, expensive start and losing major market share to the competition it can manage 15m more? (PS3 might reach 90m, so 10m more in that case.) I see it selling better than PS3/X360 in any scenario.

Let me see.

2013: 4,500,000
2014: 14,000,000
2015: 15,000,000
2016: 17,000,000
2017: 14,000,000
2018: 11,000,000
2019: 7,000,000 [PS5 YEAR]
2020 and after: another 10,000,000? (and i'm generus)
Lifetime: Around 92.5m... maybe a -+10% of difference in those numbers.

Well, that's what i think. Can you write your prediction Year on Year?

It's probably been brought up to death, but Wii's first few years will look better than PS4 because it was the most hyped up gimmick in history. Back from 2006 to 2010, everyone had to have one because their favorite talk show hosts always talked how great fun it was for the family and kids. After that initial hype, the sales fell... Badly. The media suddenly stopped talking about it, because it was no longer the flavor of the month, so to speak, and it was never really noticed by the core gaming community to begin with. Let's not forget that Wii was tracking well above even the PS2, and people were predicting it to sell 200 + million units in it's lifetime, easily. PS4 will keep going, only getting stronger and stronger in sales over the course of the next few years, as more games release for the system. Sony just has to make sure they keep that momentum going. Eventually PS4 will pass the Wii, and then some. Hell, it might even get close to PS2 numbers, but who knows.

It's pretty simple really. PS4 has managed 50% because the competition has sold abysmally, especially the Wii U. Wii didn't manage it, despite selling incredible amounts, because both of its competitors managed to achieve strong sales.

It's a testament to the sorry state of console gaming this generation that the PS4 has managed to achieve 50% market share almost by default.

If anything, it only points to the Wii's short legs that it never achieved 50%.  The other consoles only really hit their stride in the 3rd year, which also just happened to be the peak year for the Wii.  The Wii was able to bring a new customer to console gaming, but hardly any of them stayed.  In the end, it really had little impact on how we play games.

And the PS1 and PS2 both had 50%+ by default.  Was gaming in a sorry state, then?  Or was console gaming still alive and well, and those consoles were just seen by the majority to offer the best bang for your buck?  I'm going with the later.  Same goes for this gen.

This isnt even a thing really... I had to laugh when I saw that thread.

The Wii being market leader and not reaching 50%, ending at 35% or so is the anomoly. PS4 reaching 50% is the norm for the market leader, actually 50% is low.

PS2 (approx 75%) and PS1 (approx 70%+) smashed 50%.

It was just a thread that wasnt required and only created to wind up Ninty fans. Ps2 and Ps1 both had far better marketshare than Ps4 will achieve, but obviosuly that comparison isn't as convenient.

Don't you think it would be smart to see how high PS4 can jump, and possibly how low XBO can fall, before judging how much "far better" is?

If we assume pessimistic lifetime sales of 40m for Xbox one and 15m for WiiU then the PS4 would need 130m to have 70%.

Technically, 128M.  And 116M for 68%.  Hardly FAR better.

And 40M isn't exactly pessimistic for XBO.  I'd say ~30M is.  If someone guessed ~40M at this point, I'd say they would be being realistic.  50M+ is optimistic.

That's the reason of this thread.

I didn't say that the 50% MS of PS4 is not impressive, just, most of the Sony fan say that the PS4 sales are more impressive than the Wii sales just because PS4 hit 50% of marketshare...

But when you look those numbers, you can agreed that even if Wii have not outsold PS3 and XB360 combinet in lifetime sales, the Wii sales are more impressive.

If PS4 beats Wii's lifetime sales with 60% marketshare is it impressive then?

Depend. If PS4 will outsell the Wii, and will break 60% marketshare, yes, we can say that the PS4 sales LIFETIME are more impressive.

Just, i don't think PS4 will hit the Wii sales, and even if will, i will be still more shocked by the 2008 Wii sales. because, expect DS, no one console have sold at this level. Not even  PS2.

This proves how bad Wii U is performing. Despite lower sales PS4 still has good share and its still $100 expensive. This just looks worse on Nintendo's part.

As it should. Nintendo dug this hole when they tried to make a core gaming console to compete with PS360, but then immediately backtracked to marketing it to families with small chrildren, thinking that same demographic would fall for it a second time.

i still believe PS4 will outsell the Wii thanks to those PS legs.

I see around 60 / 65 % MS for PS4...

WU ~ 19,000,000

XBO ~ 35,000,000

PS4 ~ 92,000,000

This isn't the sense of the thread.
