The USA and Japan sales are confirmed by Media Create and NPD.
Wii was a 250$ console that was purchased by a lot of different people that never had anything to do with videogames. On the other hand PS4 is a standard home console and still costs 400$. Wii sold well in its first years of life, PS4 will probably sell decently for 5 to 6 years if we assume that it will perform similarly to other PS consoles. So it's still too early to say which one will sell better overall, the only sure thing is that both are the best selling consoles of their respective generation.

But you can buy a PS4 + games + controller + tretton at 400$...
I live in Italy, in this countrie, you can buy PS4 + FIFA 15 + The Order + 2 controller for 379.98€... so, even if we haven't a official pricedrop, those promotion are nearly at the the 250€ of Wii with Wii Sport.
One time, in July, PS4+FIFA 15 was selling for 199€ for all month. (Italy)
The only thing as impressive as the Wii's initial years of sales is how fast it faded away from the market... A golden oldie.
Anyway; the Wii's sales are truly impressive, but if we factor in things such as price and system selling software, the PS4 is looking good. But then we see what the PS4's competition is offering and we're back with the Wii.
I think the Wii's sales are more impressive than the PS4's 50% marketshare.
Much of PS4 sales will depend on how aggressively Sony cuts the price in the coming years. A $299 PS4 this holiday will be a big shot in the arm. If it can spend a year or two at $199 or less I think tail end can be very strong.
That's obvious, the only reason that Wii never got to 50% (though, it missed it by what?) is that it actually had competent competition.

Well I'm talking about November 2013 to October 2014 so the Order wasn't out then.
The only major official deals were just bundles with games included in the bundle but even then it wasn't a free game. I got the Watch Dogs bundle in July the RRP in UK is £350 but it cost me £370.
The money spent on buying PS4's in the first year it outsold Wii is a lot greater than what was spent on Wii in the same time period. That's crazy impressive.

That's the reason of this thread.
I didn't say that the 50% MS of PS4 is not impressive, just, most of the Sony fan say that the PS4 sales are more impressive than the Wii sales just because PS4 hit 50% of marketshare...
But when you look those numbers, you can agreed that even if Wii have not outsold PS3 and XB360 combinet in lifetime sales, the Wii sales are more impressive.

If PS4 beats Wii's lifetime sales with 60% marketshare is it impressive then?
