What's the most powerful Android-based device on the market? Just to know the specs a Nintendo-Android could reach and at what price.

Right now it's the nvidia Tegra X1 processor, has 500 GFLOPs of performance in the small Shield console, can run games like Crysis 3 natively:

Mobile chips with 1 TFLOP of power are coming soon.

I don't know if it's the most powerful (or the most expensive), but Samsung has this one for $600

Tegra X1 Shield destroys the Note 4 in performance.

It's only $200 to boot. But of course it's a mini-console not a tablet with a screen, but a X1-based portable is apparently coming soon too.

This was predicted by many after the DeNA announcement. This also likely indicates the switch from resistive to capacative screens (gorilla glass I hope). Nintendo's ready to explore and perfect the current mobile standard, but featuring buttons (haptic?) & sticks.

As far as entering into a "NX mode", I think it'll just be a NX hw exclusive app, featuring the eshop within that app, so that ppl continue normal use of quick android app switching.

I think this is a good example to start speculating on the home version of NX (form factor & power).  The 1 tflop should be the base line, like most of us predicted, as the jump from Wii U.  By late '16 or early '17 Nintendo can get a decent price on them.

It's actually ridiculously thin too, it's only a bit thicker than an iPhone, the plastic stand (optional) just makes it look thicker than it actually is.

So form factor wise, Nintendo could definitely have something smaller than their smallest consoles.

The size of the console is a mistery for now. On one hand, Nintendo might decide to use SD cartridges on both handheld and home console, and that would be a fantastic setup for the Fusion project (with an Android OS, sharing both libraries could be really easy). On the other hand, Nintendo really needs to make bigger memories for their devices (32 gb for the WiiU is ridiculous compared to the standard 500 gb of the competition), and that would  take space.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Didn't they start this exact same rumour about the WiiU once?

Im pretty sure that was about EA trying to get their service on the wii u, which would have been dumb. And honestly, it was more than likely true. EA trying to pursude them for a while while nintendo rejects, and when nintedo rejects, EA drops all support. makes too much sense

They could do some interesting things with a "micro-console".

I think it would be cool if you could dual link two or even three of them together like big Lego Blocks, but if each one only consumes say 10-15 watts of electricity, three of them are still only punching in 30-45 watt range, which isn't sucking a lot of juice.

On face value this seems a terrible idea, after thinking about it for a while it still sounds terrible but I guess it gives Nintendo access to reasonably powerful hardware and an OS on the cheap. It will allow a wide range of software to run plus exclusive Nintendo games that better utilise the hardware. However most android games are technically weak and casual.

I might consider buying such hardware if it was relatively cheap and had a good selection of brilliant Nintendo games.

It just feels like Nintendo trying to deliver something on the cheap. It this point it feels like something that will flop badly but then I dont think I've totally grasped the concept yet as they see it.

I would of prefered a Nintendo console based on pc hardware using perhaps a linux based os like steam os with locked in backwards compatibility, i.e. every generational update still runs 100% of earlier Nintendo games. Operating like steam where all games are locked to one account and retail games are just a code in a pretty box. As PC boxes go it would be fairly low spec and cheap and have a dedicated controller without keyboard or mouse.
