This would only make sense for the mobile platform, but I guess it doesn't exactly hurt the home console system either. Android OS on console doesn't mean devs can't deliver Witcher 3 and FFXV type experiences, thats just down to hardware.

I presume adopting android will allow Nintendo to cut a lot of corners in terms of integrating their various platforms and enabling social media and other funtionalities.

The more I hear about the NX, the more I'm excited. Not because it sounds like my dream console but because Nintendo seems hungry again, their not just resting on mario or one sole gimmick

Microsoft spent billions on minecraft. They already allow Sony (their main rival) to use it. Why wouldn't they allow Nintendo (a rival with a different demographic) to use it too and make some of the profit to make up for the expense of buying it?

My theory on why Minecraft isn't on WiiU/3DS is that Microsoft doesn't want to compete with a console with Mario and Minecraft for the "kid first console" market. But in an Android based system, the temptation of ust releasing the game might be too great to resist.

Uh, I highly doubt that is the reason. Minecraft would become one of the best selling games on both platforms within the first year. Minecraft is successful on every single platform it releases on.

Android is a piracy camp, i dont know if Nintendo is serious about this. i thought they develop their own API and OS.

I believe this will accelerate the shift to developing mobile games by japanese devs that supported Nintendo handhelds, something like multiplatform NX/Android smatphones games, which is very good imho. But this way the only people that are gonna buy this NX thing are Nintendo fans...hopefully they have a plan to cater to a bigger audience...ofc assuming this is true.
