Number of active XBL users increases to 39 million, up 29% from last year. Xbox game sales grew 66%.

Microsoft just reported its earnings for the first quarter of fiscal year 2016. The company generated revenue of $21.66 billion and earnings per share of $0.67. Analysts expected the company to earn $21.03 billion and earnings per share of $0.59. Microsoft beat both of these expectations. As a result of this, Microsoft's stock was up 1.76% and another 6% in after-hours trading. The company reported a net profit (after taxes and other expenses) of $4.6 billion which was up 2%.

Xbox generated less revenue due to price cuts this quarter but more people bought consoles because Xbox Live grew to 39 million active gamers. That's a huge accomplishment because they're just counting active gamers and not people who no longer use the service but created an account. That's an almost 29% increase in Xbox Live membership since last year. Additionally, due to more users playing on Xbox, game sales grew 66%.

Lets assume only half of them are paying Xbox Live customers. At $50 per year (a bit below headline cost, but making allowances for discounts), thats around $1 billion. Before they have spent a single dollar on a game, DLC, or other service.

Sony may be winning, but these people that think Xbox is suddenly going to evaporate are exhibiting very wishful thinking.

Next week will be the same week last year when they announced the Xbox One price drop to $349. Does anyone think that there will be a drop to $299 announced?

They can't announce a price cut unless it becomes effective the next day, as to do so would stunt sales around the release of their biggest game. Would be very unwise.

If they DID plan a price cut already (at one day's notice), we'd likely have already seen rumours/early postings etc.

But I also don't think it makes sense for them to cut until at least a month after Halo 5 (to allow the sales that will inevitably drive to be profit maximised).

So there is a chance they will cut in November.

If they plan to do another price cut this holiday, it'd most likely be next week with Halo.

However all the interviews and the leaked black Friday deal point to no price drop. Microsoft has given up on outselling the US competition and would rather make short term profit it seems.

Telltale really needs to get a new engine. The final episode of Borderlands had so many slowdowns where the game almost came to a dead stop it wasn't even funny.

I want to ask something: Is the game broken in anyway? Did you encounter any issues regarding any glitches or trying to get into matches? Just curious.
