Halo 5 Goes Gold

Today I’m excited to announce that Halo 5: Guardians has officially gone gold!

This is the culmination of an incredible three-year journey for our team. Together we set out to accomplish an ambitious vision and deliver a Halo game built from the ground up for the Xbox One. Now as we near the release of the game on October 27, we couldn’t be more excited to share the results with you, the fans.

Halo games have always been about epic scale, and Halo 5: Guardians is no exception. From our multi-character campaign to the robust suite of multiplayer experiences included with Halo 5: Guardians, this game is packed to the gills with loads of exciting content.

We will have a multiplayer content update, prior to launch, that will supplement the online multiplayer goodness with map content for Arena Multiplayer and our all new massive-scale 12v12 Warzone Multiplayer. Make sure you have the Power Setting for your Xbox One set to “Instant On” so that you’ll automatically download the online multiplayer update prior to October 27th and be ready on launch day. Those that buy a physical copy will download the online multiplayer update automatically after you install the game on your Xbox One. Next week, the game will be available to pre-download for digital customers, so follow @Halo and we’ll keep you posted when that is ready to go.

Of course launch is just the beginning. Our dedicated live team will be focused on supporting the game with monthly releases of new content and experiences… such as new REQ content and more than 18 free multiplayer maps.

We can’t wait for you to experience Halo 5: Guardians. Until then, thank you for your support and we’ll see you all online on the 27th!

/Josh

Today I had to explain a friend who was super excited to play Halo 5 couch co-op with me like we always did that it won't be possible this time. The shock you could see in his face was pretty crazy

Ya I had that same conversation with a friend of mine a while ago. I do play co-op online with most friends, but my best friend and I usually do at least one or two run throughs together split screen. Quite sad to lose that ability

Yeah. I'm also very disappointed with the loss of local co-op. That is the general approach for the industry unfortunately. It started last generation. Less games that feature local co-op every year. We'll end up with sports games only at this rate.

Nintendo and sport games are the only ones that are really keeping them.

Do any of you play Xbox Fitness? I haven't touched it for a few months, but I noticed that with the latest update the size increase from ~340 MB to 4.4 GB. That's a huge difference! What changed? I hope they are allowing you to download the programs you buy to your console and you don't need to stream them.

I'm also very surprised about local co-op or multiplayer in general dying out so much. I mean, I'm 31 and I still have moments where I play together with friends from time to time and with that I mean I meet them, we have some beer together, eat pizza and play some games.

If I would be a student and live together with some other people or if I would be still in school I would do that much more. Sure, you can play online nowadays but if you live together with other guys (which many young people do) or if you live close to a friend you still see these people in reality and play with them.

It's hard to imagine how young people nowadays live in the same street but only meet online to play together^^

I remember when I used to meet with my cousins and friends and play one game after another. Nowadays when I see my little brother and his friends, they only play Fifa and the get bored after few matches.
One of my cousins who live far away come and enjoy the holidays with my brother and stay at our home. He brings his PS4 to play with each other!! Thats just sad! What's making it even worse, they take my bedroom TV. Two consoles and two different TVs in one room!

Really like the sound of those modes a lot more than that shit multiplayer the last Tomb Raider had
