The MP is really good, they managed to evolve it without alienating their core (something 343 hasn’t managed).

How would you say they evolved the multiplayer? They didn't add any new modes to play, those couple of new weapons aren't exactly innovative, most stuff they decided to add is familiar from other shooters. They've lowered the skill cap by making movement slower, adding aim assist & bigger hitboxes etc.

I mean yeah, it's fun and all but they've definitely alienated the core of Gears. I can see why they did it though. I hope it'll be a success and bring in new fans. Afraid it won't though.

Those changes are pretty minor compared to Halo’s, to me it’s a very similar experience to past titles and I see a lot or diehard fans enjoying it but I can see why pros might be a bit mad. Coalition might be able to tweak it a bit. I’ve never really been into the pro scene of Gears I’m just speaking about the old school fans I see enjoying it.

I'm not into the pro scene either and what I've seen most diehard/old school  fans don't like this game. And I'm struggling to think of reasons why they would.

It's not too late to fix it fortunately. I don't mind those little delays of movement, bouncing and shooting but they simply need to either nerf weapon damages, nerf the ridiculous stopping power or remove aim assist. All these thing combined with open maps with less cover has made this game something else than Gears.

I'm finishing two rounds KotH matches with 60+ eliminations & 30+ downs. But it's not exciting. Those intimitading, highly skilled players are handicapped. No need to play smart and avoid or surprise them.

The former lead writer of Obsidian leaked last year that they were doing an AAA Pillars of Eternity, he said internally it was being described as Pillars x Skyrim, these job postings seem to back that up, AAA production in 1st person like Elder Scrolls, with Pillars of Eternity setting.

It's looking like Obsidian is going to turn Pillars into Xbox's equivalent of 'Elder Scrolls' and I honestly wouldn't be surprised if one day InXile turns Wasteland into Xbox's own equivalent of modern day 'Fallout'.

AAA Wasteland should be the next step for the franchise, I’m conflicted if it should be 3rd person or 1st though.

So now we have currently confirmed to be in Development by new 1st party studios based on hirings/job posts and interviews

Playground: AAA 3rd person Open world RPG, FH 5

Ninja Theory: Bleeding Edge, single player game by Hellblade team, possibly another project by a different team

Inxile: AA-AAA title, maybe another Bards tale entry

Undead: SoD 3 possibly the 1st AAA game in the franchise

Compulsion: 3rd person game with narrative choices possibly some RPG elements

Obsidian: AAA 1st person RPG

all and all together with XGS might have enough Games to fill the first 3 years of the Scarlets lifecycle.

Gears 5 Ending Spoilers.

Spoiler!

So, who did you save? Idk how I feel about Gears 5 doing multiple choice, for some games I just prefer a set story where the pressure isn't on me to make choices in the story, I did think one of them dying was good but Idk about making it a choice, I'm also worried that they will cop out for Gears 6 and pick a canon ending, making the choice irrelevant.

Spoiler!

Anyway I saved JD, I felt bad since Del was a real bro to Kait throughout the entire story, not once did he turn his back on Kait like JD, who was honestly a bit of a dickhead, frankly the only reason I saved JD over Del was Marcus, I couldn't put him through losing his only son after he's already lost his 'bro', his father and his wife, plus I loved how Marcus was almost acting like a father figure to Kait throughout the entire story, he was always looking out for Kait and making sure she's okay.

Spoiler!

Honestly Del was mostly a background character anyway with not much of a story, hopefully Del's death gives JD some good character growth and shows us a softer side of Marcus as he helps JD get through it as he knows what it's like to lose a bro.

Spoiler!

Overall I thought the story was great, I have a few minor nitpicks though, like JD/Fahz turning up out of nowhere to suddenly help Kait felt a bit rushed, I feel like an Act where we play as JD & Fahz would have been better to show their character growth, I ended up liking Fahz more as the game went on though, I loved how everyone was there but I wish there was more scenes between Cole and Baird, also I didn't really like how we didn't see Carmine's reaction to his nieces death at all, I figured he might blame JD a little but he doesn't seem to give a shit, Lol. I guess that matches his character though, he's the get shit done person, probably just thinks "It's a war, shit happens".

Spoiler!

Jack MVP. RIP Buddy.

Spoiler!
Also I wish they went deeper into Kait's link to the Swarm but I guess that will be used in Gears 6 as I believe Jinn said she wants to use it.

Spoiler!

I also picked JD because of Marcus. I think making JD a bit of an asshole was good because than everyone would save him without a second thought.

Since we see their body dissapear in the ground, i have a feeling that they'll return corrupted by the swarm like kait's mother in the sequel.

I agree that JD's/Fahz sudden change was weird. The whole time i was sure that they'll grab Kait and hand her to Jinn

I doubt that Obsidians next game will be anything like Alpha Protocol especially with MS backing lol, I got it since most people have told me that it’s slightly underrated even if it has many problems.

Valkyria Revolution has many negative reviews but I still got it cause it’s cheap, also I will try almost any JRPG game just wish that Xbox would have had better support this gen. I’m willing to pick up some B&C tier games even if they are not considered universally good.
