Wanted to try out Game Pass for PC. Turns out I need a Win 10 update in order to open the Xbox Beta Installer.
Took an hour to download and install the update and when it was ~95% completed, the update simply failed.
That's exactly why I stopped gaming on PC.

Happened to me too, I just gave up on trying to install it. Oh well.

ah shame, but there might be many more opportunities in the future once Ultimate runs out for you guys.

I was trying to wait a little because prices for XBL vouchers have risen by quite a bit since this offer was announced. But I had no idea how long this offer lasts so I felt forced to pay a little more for XBL. Bought a 12 month code for ~€27 last time in January.

If you are able to afford it then it really is worth buying 3x 12 month Gold cards and converting it to Ultimate which at the moment would cost £150/180 at RRP prices especially if you always keep your gold sub running anyway.

I actually had enough combined time to max out 3 years from Game Pass and Gold, Technically I've saved enough money to pay for 75% of the next gen Xbox hardware since I stacked up my 3 years worth of Game Pass when it was on offer for £3 a month which would total £108 but with reward points and £50 Xbox cards costing £47.50 at retail factored in I've now got 3 years of Ultimate for just under £100 opposed to the £400 it would cost for 3 years at the regular price saving me £300.

MS will probably make money on this as people with only a few months will transfer and keep Ultimate going instead of previously just having a Gold sub but if your aware of what you can transfer and a power user you have a great deal on your hands.

But to be clear - I don't think we can do this once we've already upgraded right?

Michael Leone joining us from Rockstar Games San Diego as Principal Technical Designer

Tom Maddocks joining us from Massive Entertainment - An Ubisoft Studio as Audio Designer - Grade 2 (also worked at Lionhead during Fable Legends development)

They are going to be an amazing team if they keep poaching Rockstar devs.

haha tried it again yesterday. No idea how it turned out.

This time it went over the 95% mark. That's when I thought the install would be over and after a restart, everything would work.
Lol nope, installation has just begun. It logged me off and started the install. Stayed at 0% for an hour until I had to go to bed. It didn't completely freeze as the loading animation was still working but there's a good chance that something has gone wrong. That's 3 hours in total so far.
Not a fan of leaving my laptop running over the night, so I unplugged the power cable. Will be interesting to see if it could finish it in the remaining 2-3 hours before shutting off.

Not until your Game Pass Ultimate has run out. Then you'd need to wait for another offer.
They will probably do it again during Black Friday, Christmas or some time else. Probably next year at the latest, once Scarlett is out.

To no surprise it didn't finish. Took an hour to revert the changes made to the system. It wouldn't let me boot otherwise.

lol now I installed the Win10 update like usual and not via the Windows 10 Update Assistant that Xbox Installer wants me to use.
Worked without any errors. Started the Xbox Installer and got the notification:
"Not quite ready.
Windows is making the May 2019 Update available to compatible devices, but your device isn't quite ready for it."

Are you serious MS?!? Fuck it. Fuck Game Pass for PC for now. Wasted far too much time on it already.

Was wondering what studios Microsoft could buy to fill gaps in their genres.

Iron Galaxy - Fighting.
Mistwalker - JRPG.
Bloober - Horror.

Any other ideas?

Nightschool studios(Oxenfree, Afterparty) - Narrative/episodic games.

Wayforward(Shantae) - Metroidvania

MS should staff up The Outer Worlds team to like 150-200 for sequels, assuming it is popular enough to get sequels, so that the sequels feel more AAA, because right now it definitely feels more AA than AAA. Then they can keep one or two 50-60 man AA teams to work on their isometric RPG series. Then when the EA Star Wars license expires in 2023, MS should put in a bid for Obsidian's AAA team to make KOTOR 3, maybe Disney would allow them to.

True. Was kinda hyped for it before E3 but the E3 trailer didn't do much for me, at least when it comes down to graphics. Acceptable but not much more. About on the same level as State of Decay 2 or Crackdown 3. I'm sure it will be a good game regardless.

Honestly, I think Phil needs to see if he can find a way to get Bungie back in the fold. I feel like they both kind of need each other, and would profit immensely from getting back together. Bungie did it's best work while they had MS oversight, and really the only thing that made them want to split off (far as I know) was the desire to do something beyond Halo. That's obviously not an issue anymore. On the flip side, I'm sure there are still plenty of people there who care a lot about Halo, and there could be some collaboration/consultation between them and 343 on possible directions and things MS could do with their flagship franchise moving forward, or even the occasional passing of the baton...where maybe Bungie makes another Halo all of their own, and 343 are freed up to take a bit of a creative break where they can make something entirely new.

And while I'm not the biggest fan of much of what Bungie has done lately, there would just be something special and awesome about it if MS came out at E3 in some future year down the road, and a Halo trailer starts playing, with all the usual bells and whistles, and then at the end, all of a sudden you see the Bungie logo there, and that's how they announce that they're back where they belong. I mean come on. That's a "you win E3" moment.

So ya….me, if I was Phil, I'd be pushing to make that happen pretty fucking hard.
