Actually Playground and the Initiative were leaked and Rodneybpuch of Resetera said that MS bought a studio in Canada and the US that turned out to be correct with Compulsion and Undead, Ninja Theory was the only surprise and Klobrille knew about Obsidian before E3 because he saw the LOI so it was confirmed that they were in negotiations.

Really only Ninja and Inxile were never leaked as far as I’m aware.

Hmm, I don't remember The Initiative being leaked but I could be wrong, Rodney did say something along those lines but that's extremely vague and easy guesswork and Idk where he is anymore. I only remember Playground & Obsidian being leaked by Klob but he's purposely avoiding leaking things this E3 and I believe he's been on holiday, although he did make a post back in March similar to the one he made about Obsidian hinting at a studio acquisition.

These acquisitions happen at the highest levels to begin with which makes them harder to find out, kinda like that Sony partnering with Microsoft Azure taking both Xbox and Playstation employees by surprise, perhaps this year Microsoft is just being extra cautious, although ultimately I agree with you that we could be looking at 0 acquisitions this E3, we know for sure they're looking for more studios but these deals take a lot of time and can fall through easily, perhaps they just aren't ready to show any yet.

Rodney was basing the Canadian studio and American studio on some info I forget what it was maybe some documents, he was banned for making wild guesses like DM5 being exclusive. He more than likely just saw info that showed DMC5 being revealed at the MS stage and for whatever reason he thought it was exclusive even though that would have been highly unlikely.

The Initiative was leaked as MS starting a studio in Santa Monica, no one hinted at the name of it though.

Yes The Initiative was known before E3 same as Playground, All the others were surprises though maybe Undead Labs people kinda presumed with the leak of a US based studio.

Yeah I remember now but I think it was Microsoft who leaked it accidentally...They announced that they had hired Darrell Gallagher before E3 (April?) to be on Matt Booty's leadership team (Which is basically Shannon Loftis + Every Studio Head) then weeks later (May?) they posted a job posting which specifically mentioned building a team in Santa Monica (Where Darrell Gallagher is from) so it was just putting two and two together.

Yeah that's the one where they posted about the new Santa Monica studio and a separate post about Darrell it was the name "The Initiative" that we didn't know until E3.

Gears 5 sounds great. Can't wait for it's E3 showcase.

I must be one of those not excited for Gears 5, it looks great but I have no hype for it.

That was me for Gear 4. Everything i've heard about Gears 5 has me pretty hyped.

So no Overrun in Gears 5. That's such a shame. I hope they won't make the game too generic.. some of the stuff really worries me.

edit. Stealh for example. Why on Earth would anyone want to sneak past enemies while you're packing an assault rifle with chainsaw attached to it?

Story wise it makes sense. Most of the campaign will be Kait on her own with some help from Delmont in some missions. So for the most part its going to be 1 versus everyone else while in Gears 4 there was more manpower with 3 people.

You got it all wrong man, it's not there to sneak past enemies. It's there to sneak up to enemies for free chainsaw kills. Hard to get in quality chainsaw kills on the hardest difficulty when everything is already shooting at you lol

In all seriousness though, the concept of stealth in a Gears game is….weird. I'm open to seeing how it's implemented, but the thought of sneaking around in a franchise as high-octane as Gears seems a bit off. And I 100% agree about Overrun. It was a fantastic game mode (by far the best thing about Judgement), and it's a damn shame we've not heard anything about it's possible future return yet.

The campaign for Gears 5 sounds amazing, No Overrun seems like a big mistake.

I’m very Hyped for Gears 5 and Halo Infinite, These titles could reinvent the entire franchises.

Gears 2 had some sneaking, it was fine =p.
