There’s a thread on era about the thurrott post. Matt a reliable insider who has been kinda down on Xbox in the past. Saying things like keep expectations low for e3 2017, and as recent as November of last year said the Xbox budget was low confirmed thurrotts article. Then later when someone said that they hope Sony responds by dropping cash too he said paraphrasing here ‘ would be very surprising for that to happen’.

His posts are 259 and 445 I believe.

Considering Matt’s previous statements and his usual low expectations to anything Xbox I’m pretty damn excited for what’s instore for e3 and beyond.

Link please?

I really hope its true. In addition to MS delivering better consoles with better content, Sony competes harder when MS is strong.

Post #’s I mentioned in this thread.

I'm definitely going to create a "Complete 100%" and a Complete - Not unlocked all Achievements" groups to fully see what I have finished and then I can just have a list of games that I haven't started and If I feel like clearing out some achievements from games I'm completed I can browse through into it :)

my "complete 100%" group is basically my ready to install list. lol
Just don't have enough space to keep them installed.

I generally have quite alot installed due toh aving a 8TB external makes it handy to have 250+ games installed and ready to play :P

More so why I wan't to split them is the ready to install list has my completed games and unstarted games in there so been able to split these up means I can just browse through stuff I haven't played :) The completed but not 100% achievement is more there for if I don't really feel like starting something new and want to spend an hour or two cleaning up some Gamerscore :P

Xbox, After the X

When Microsoft announced the Xbox One X last year at E3, many began wondering aloud if this would be the last console we would see from Microsoft. Considering that console cycles span upwards of seven years, the idea that cloud-streaming gaming would become a reality before the next refresh cycle seemed like a viable plausibility.

But it does not look like that will be the case here, or if the company does move towards streaming games, there will still be a dedicated hardware component for the Xbox platform. Following my podcast last week, I have heard from three different sources stating that Microsoft is pushing forward with new hardware but that the release timeline is still several years away.

The company is looking to hire a specialist with GDDR6 expertise and they are also exploring how to deeply integrate game streaming into their next console.

While we might think of game streaming as meaning that the entire game is streamed in real-time from a cloud server, there are more realistic possibilities in the near-term while the latency challenge is overcome. For example, imagine a game where the environment is dynamically updated from the cloud as you explore the map so that it becomes never-ending or have a city that is updated dynamically with local weather and traffic so that you can experience traffic jams in the virtual world as they occur in real life…exciting.

But, these are the scenarios that are being explored as it will be unlikely that a switch is flipped to a fully-streaming service as there are still too many variables still in place and the ability for local gaming still needs to be a viable option for the long-term.

As for the timeline for the next console release, I’ve heard that within three years is a realistic possibility; the company is not currently in a rush to replace the Xbox One X as it has a significant horsepower advantage when compared to the current offering from Sony. And as you would expect, the console will be backward and forwards compatible, much like the Xbox One X; Paul is also hearing that Microsoft is building another iteration of the Xbox as well.

Even though Microsoft is pushing more towards the enterprise with its Windows and Office services, Xbox is one of the few brands inside of Microsoft that has managed to create a huge consumer-following and has a large upside ahead of it as gaming, and eSports, continue to grow. The company has also recently announced that it is expanding its E3 presence that further shows that Microsoft is not shying away from gaming.

While Nintendo has carved out a sizeable chunk of the casual gaming market with its Switch, the Xbox only has one primary competitor; Sony. Even though the PlayStation has the lead for this generation, Microsoft is making significant investments in hardware/content to close the gap with Sony and has the financial backing to go all-in on gaming to win the next generation.

That last part is great news.

Looks like the "Microsoft will exit the console space" is finally put to rest.

PES 2018 is coming to game pass.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

I thought they were all in this generation. I also think they were not ready to launch the Xbox. Destoyed any goodwill they had from the 360 era which was already slipping at the unveiling. Hardly any Kinect games on a console that's sold with each one. Games released incomplete. The games they invested heavily in backfired by not selling well at all. Sunset, Titanfall,  DR3, Tomb Raider, Ryse and Quantum. Gears came and went. Scalebound was canceled. They stopped giving numbers for consoles and games. We know if they were winning this wouldn't even be an issue.

How exactly do you go all in? They didn't slack on money this generation. They spent 100M on Gears. They spent and wasted on Fable Legends and Scalebound. Quantum Break almost killed Remedy. They funded Ryse. They got Dead Rising 3 exclusive. Titanfall was exclusive and basically sold a ton after it was on sale. Tomb Raider hardly did anything for Xbox. They spent on the Xbox with the Snap feature and other apps and accessories.

Where can they get better? 1st party studios right. Well they've been saying this shit for so long and we've basically heard nothing from these clowns. I really don't think they're creative at all or they're being stifled. MS is still sitting on IPs that could make the games from 1st party studios more varied.
Instead they tease us with Battletoads and Conker.  Phantom Dust lol. LOL. We've been waiting on 1st party studios for how long? Japanese games for how long?

I also can't go without blaming the fan base. I really think MS doesn't know what they want because of mixed messages. Wanted the Japanese games. Had them on the 360 and they bombed. One of their big single player games last Gen was Alan Wake. Bombed. The only games that sold really well were the shooters. They give more of them and the fan base asks for what doesn't sell. They tried story single player games again with Ryse and Quantum Break. Bombed. I would be confused as well. Go with what works is probably the mantra now. Even though it can't be that way. I just think the fans don't want to try anything out of their comfort zones and it's really messed up the inner thinking of MS.

This was long and said before but I'm just getting very tired of MS. Really liked the OG Xbox days and early 360 days. I don't know what's going on anymore. So many controllers and then higher ups promoting Sony and Nintendo games and it's not being reciprocated at all.

They released a few japanese games and when those didn't sell millions they stoped caring. You can't expect to get the jrpg crowd in an instant. You have to take your time and slowly build that fanbase. MS probably thought that Lost Odyssey was a FF killer and it will sell 10 million copies lol.

Ryse didn't bombed. Quantum Break did but it wasn't such a great game and the whole issue with the live action series put a lot of people off. Cuphead, Ori and state of decay are single player and they were successful games.

I most definitely can believe the Executives were running the division and the money was reigned in.
I'm hoping it turns around because I've been with them since 01 and I don't trust that division much at all now

nice, saves me 5€.

The word from the insiders through last year was that ms had a tight budget for Xbox. Now though according to the same insiders that’s now changed. We will see at e3 and beyond if it’s true.

Also sea of theives debuted number 2 on npd behind only far cry 5.
