Was there ever any news about a Phantasy Star for Xbox in the first place?

Late to comment but I'm at least happy that Microsoft got Playground Games to make another exclusive for them, Fable needs a proper AAA reboot. No excited for Electric Squares project anymore.
Hopefully this leads to a potential buyout by MS, getting Playground would be huge because they will have 2 teams capable of making AAA games.

Doesn't Sony have Phantasy Star Online 2 as an exclusive? they also got an exclusive PS RPG for the Vita.
*sigh* I'm tired of the same IPs though, I have faith in playground, If they are making Fable it'll probably be the first good entry in the series.

Yeah still wish that it was a new IP but at least the game is exclusive that is more important in the end.

I'm not complaining bout that
I rag on Fable a lot, it isn't a horrible franchise. If a new one comes out and looks good I'll give it a chance.

I've no idea. Between Spiderman Shenmue and SFV I'm sick of their shit. I can deal without Spiderman because I'm sure it'll be nothing new but Shenmue man. I've been waiting to finish that story since early 2000s SMH

IMO Shenmue 3 looks like ass, not even current gen graphics its such a shame that Sega doesn't care for the franchise and yet pumps out like 6 Yakuza games when a New Shenmue today would probably cost the same as developing a Yakuza title.
As far as Phantasy Star Online 2 the only new news was that a Switch Version got announced for Japan only, a western Release was announced 4 years ago and so far nothing. MS needs to get on that and help them release it for Windows/Xbox.
| shikamaru317 said: Yeah, graphically what they have shown so far is quite disappointing. It doesn't even look current gen. They have $6m in Kickstarter money plus additional funding they have secured from other sources, you'd think they a could at least offer current gen graphics. I've seen indies do alot more graphically with alot less money, Edge of Eternity for example. Thankfully graphics aren't that important to me personally, though they are important to alot of people, enough people that the poor graphics may ultimately cause it to be a sales flop. Which sucks because Yu has said he will need to do at least Shenmue 4 and 5 to finish the story. |
I think that it will probably sell ok but not enough to warrant a sequel unless Sony/Nintendo buy exclusivity and fund them. The game as it stands looks like it's using some default assets that come with Unreal Engine, i doubt that it gets released in 2018.
