Microsoft should have bought marketing rights for Red Dead Redemption though, it would have been a perfect game to promote Scorpio. Then again, I don't know if marketing rights for Fallout and Witcher for example made much difference. Hard to say as we don't know how much these deals cost and are they even that profitable in the end. |
There wouldn't be marketing deals for pretty much every bigger game if they wouldn't make a difference.
It's just how marketing works, people see again and again advertisement and it burns in their brain. And especially with exclusive content you show people that it's "better" to own your console if you want the version with all content.
Not to forget that they often use the exclusive content to let it sound as if the whole game would be exclusive with some smart wording.

Yeah I hear you. I was thinking about Europe, games like Fallout, Witcher, FIFA, CoD and even battlefield sold more on playstation and outside of UK I don't think these deals help to push console sales much. Everyone knows they're on playstation too. Witcher even sold better in US on playstation according to vgchartz 😐 Destiny, CoD and Battlefront sold well on Xbox even without marketing rights.
What I'm getting at, does it pay off for Microsoft to pay for these deals because of the bloodbath that's going on in Europe and other regions outside US and UK?
