I think people are willing to spend the 250-300$ or so it might be to get a VR headset and experiance it.
PS4 + Morpheus has a chance to make VR, a thing normal consumers can experiance.

Theres going to be casuals that ll want to try it and might buy a ps4+morpheus just for that experiance alone.

Oh, it's going to be a glorious flop.

Wait until they give "virtual concerts" so you can get a live experiance of a concert sitting at home with a VR set on.
All it takes is they setup 360 degree camra's in a concert, and you could "go" to one where it felt like you where there and able to move your head around ect.

Theres tons of weird and wacky stuff you can do with a VR set, that you just cant get sitting infront of a TV/PC monitor.

Why stop at concerts, sports of all types could be cool with VR (like watching tv but where you are in control of where the camra is pointing).

It has huge potential. Not to speak of what VR could do to the porn industry.

VR is going to be big for Concerts / sports TV + Porn + Gameing.

If you're actually comparing the pseudo VR from yesterday with today's tech you shouldn't be anywhere near this topic or conversation.

VR is the future I'm sure but how many generations before mass acceptance is the question. Clearly there are factors like comfort, content, price etc that will take time to solve. VR headsets will shrink considerably too no doubt in 10 years little bigger than a pair of glasses and convenient to travel with possibly. Many compare VR to the poor acceptance of 3D tvs but the point about that is 3D tv's only offer a small taste of the VR experience. VR is total immersion in the gaming world and clearly this needs to be games that would benefit from that i.e. first person view games. I'm sure many games will change to the first person perspective because of VR.

I don't disagree with the comments about loss making though but establishing your VR brand is pretty critical so many companies may even sell at a loss to get the largest early foothold on the market. Maybe in a few years we would have forgotten about Microsoft and Sony when we decide between buying steam VR or oculus rift mk4.

I see it as the complete opposite. Project Morhpues is going to be the next Wii like craze in the gaming industry, only this time it will be here to stay, and next generation it will be the norm. I see this generation like the PS1 era of VR. Last gen was the era of the late 3D games on Super Nintendo with the Motion control and 3D. Next gen will perfect both VR and motion controls to the point of mass acceptance. VR movies, VR Sports, VR TV shows, and VR games will be a very normal thing on PlayStation 5 and Xbox 4.

VR is going to take off. It's the natural evolution of media.

I wonder when they'll make real virtual reality.  

I want a virtual reality device where I can feel whats really happening.  Real pain when getting hurt and real pleasure when getting my d*ck sucked(through mind manipulation, not a device.)  In hardcore mode where you only get one life, if I let myself get killed then I should die in real life.  None of this hand holding bs.
