Forums - Microsoft - My big E3 2015 prediction: Mass Effect 4 Xbox One exclusive. Here's why...

I'm not saying small/tiny games. I mean stuff like Gears of War level. That was a great exclusive for them to have on the 360, and being a brand new IP from a studio that needed a publisher for their games anyway it would have been significantly cheaper to secure than an established franchise from one of the biggest publishers in the world. That's the kind of thing they should be doing, making deals with mid size independent developers. Stuff like that Sunset Overdrive deal with Insomniac, except preferably ones where they own the IP. Or of course, even better still would be to invest in a brand new 1st party studio.

Who else could they make deals with to secure actual exclusives?, so far the past few deals ended up being either timed like TR or consolke exclusive where TF went to at least 3 different platforms, if they want a gears level game they need to make sure it;s exclusive to XB1 but also I just noticed they really should at the same time be keeping to their word for promise they made for PC gamers a few months ago and maybe buy/make up a few studios to make content for them as well, they killed their own AOE studios a few years back.

I do agree they should invest in others but really they have to keep to it and at it to make them stay where they are instead of giving them the leeway that gives them temp exclusives.

EA is not making that mistake again

No, this is not going to happen.

It would be stupid on EA's part to literally lose over 20 million potential customers and after they've already decided to make Titanfall 2 multiplatform because they're not happy with the sales. I'm not trying to sound like a fan*** though so good luck to Microsoft and Xbox if their willing to break in the bank to get such an amazing series/game as an exclusive.

The whole Mass Effect franchise should have been exclusive to Xbox tbh.

But on topic, i'm 99% sure this won't happen. But then again, if it happened to Rise of the Tomb Raider, then why not Mass Effect 4?

Why not Mass Effect 4?  Easy, because EA is already turning Titanfall from an Xbox One exclsuive to a multiplat.  What makes anyone think EA would go the opposite way on a way larger franchise?

I doubt it. The PS4 userbase is reaching heights where it would be dumb to ignore it. If anything one could expect a timed exclusive like TR, but this will be on PS4 and PC.

I hope it happens, it would hurt EA somewhat by which i would be glad for every penny they lost

I dunno why people say it's dumb to ignore the brand spanking new PS4 userbase, I imagine the same would be said for next gen and while that goes on to being said the PC userr base is triple that and gets ignored a lot despite it not really being good to ignore that userbase for lengthy peroids of time.

Big numbers are hard to ignore for most people but let's not get into ultra spoecifics here, it's dumb to ignore an even bigger userbase but people will still come up with ways as to why the even bigger userbase is easier to ignore or how it doesn't count.

It's annoying in the end when they ignore even the smaller bases though, sometimes those grow to become somewhat big and only then do they notice the size, I cannot describe in words as to how annoying that is when someone ignores you for so long but when you're making it big they suddenly take notice of you and want to get in bed and expect everything to be acceptable and peachy keen.

They could have partnered with Team Bondi and Techland for Whore of the Orient and Dying Light respectively. Those are both decent developers who aren't big enough to publish stuff on their own. So Microsoft could have been that publisher. Or how about 4A Games (makers of Metro) they are supposed to be working on a new game and have a pretty good history, if Microsoft offer a bit of help it shouldn't be difficult to secure that as an exclusive.

As for acquisitions there have been a few that would have been good for them. Recent examples include Crytek, who had financial issues and could have been bought out fairly easily or at least some of their studios could have as Deep Silver did instead. Or how about Volition, again Deep Silver bought them but if they had wanted to there's no reason Microsoft couldn't have got their first. And what about Atlus who were recently bought by Sega? Atlus have a good output of games considering their size and would have single handedly made Xbox One relevant in Japan as well as helping elsewhere as well. And if you want some PC focused studios they could have got Relic Entertainment.

There have been plenty of opportunities either to secure exclusives or even new studios and I doubt any of the above mentioned would be any where near as expensive as a deal for Mass Effect. I'm sure there will be plenty more opportunities too, Microsoft just aren't taking them.

Yeah they seemed to have let those guys pass them by but by now they must realise that they have to either create or make a more perma deal with someone sooner or later because Sony is completely in that PS2 position where it gots deals with no extra cost, MS needs to stop settling and paying for timed deals, perma deals on that one system and maybe the PC will further strengthen them rather than letting them all go and being known for having poor relations, deals and general weakness in brand image, I trust Spencer to make good on most of his words though but I totally hold him since he's new to the decade old PC promise every MS exec makes.
