And don't worry I won't rub people's faces in it because I tried it once and people just got pissed at me. Anyways that's all I have to say. i'm sory but saying that a console with 11 million userbase in NA is going to outsell another one with maybe 5 million is not a prediction.

If Sony, MS, & Nintendo end this generation making a profit...then they're all winners. If any of them could guarantee themselves record profits, I don't think they'd personally give a shit if they sold the most consoles or not. I think there is a HUGE chance that all three will make a profit this generation.

Lol, you don't hear Dunkin Donuts & Krispy Kreme fighting about who sold the most donuts--all they really care about is if they have grown as a company and made a nice profit for continuing operations and their shareholders.

Sorry to break it, but the "console war" is simply a soap opera for drama queens when you boil it all down.

I have always maintained and I still do now that it is still to early to call the winner. Now having said that I am not by any means saying that the ps3 or any other console will win. For the record I do accept as it is self evident that the wii has outperformed all other consoles up till this point however it remains to be seen if it can keep up the momentum and if there is anything the other two consoles can do to slow it down or reverse the trend.

 

I've got no problem saying PS3 will beat 360. It's the PS3 will beat Wii arguments that never make sense.

Anyone rational including the people you listed (except Legend; he doesn't have a PS3) realizes that the PS3 really doesn't have a chance of overtaking the Wii. What is very possible is the reality of over-taking the 360 within a relativly short peiod of time. I would have to say that the fight was always mainly against the 360 and when the Wii launched we basically counted our losses and moved on. About narrow-mindedness, i never mentioned that owning a console makes you a fanboy. There's a big difference even between a fan and a fanboy. If you can accept facts and live with them, you can be considered a fan, but if not, that makes you a fanboy. Owning a console doesn't make you a fan or fanboy, and neither you need to own a console to be a fan or a fanboy. As for false facts, like made up evidence, twisting things etc. If you want to say FUD instead, it's fine with me, but i think it doesn't give the right impression from methods used. What you said about people realising that PS3 can't overtake Wii, is just the thing i wrote in the OP, it has been so until lately. And calling crazzyman reasonable... Ehh... Well, that's why i mentioned him and gave him credit. And i gave the credit for improving, not for the past behavior. @Zero Hero: Well, the way i see it, is that Wii fans and 360 fans haven't changed that much. Of course generally the acceptance of others have increased among every group. But the reason why it took the PS3 fanboys, is that they used to be the noisiest.

I think it was the opposite.  The Sony haters kept ruffling the ps3 fanboys' feathers, and inevitably some responded in kind.  For most of last year, "ps3 is doomed!1" threads were running rampant, and every time somebody mentioned the possibility of a ps3 comeback, they were mocked and flamed.  Ps3 fans had it rough then, and of course it lead to some snapping.  

Last year, I was predicting throughout the summer (when the ps3 was only selling around 20k weekly in the US) that as the price dropped and games started coming out, sales would increase.  I said that the ps3 would sell at least 8 mil. by the end of the year.  Few believed me, and many rolled their eyes, said "yeah right", and threw out a flame or two. 

Then look what happened.  The ps3's price dropped and games like Uncharted and R&C came out, pushing the ps3 to reach not 8 million, but 8.86 million by the end of the year. 

Throughout all of the non-belief, I stayed calm, and argued my points with logic and reason.  I didn't let the fanboys get to me.  However, I'm an extremely mellow guy, and I could see guys with even a slightly more volatile temperament than my own getting pushed over the edge by all the ps3 bashing that was going on at the time.  

First thing is that noone knows how the market will be in 2 years time, maybe people will get bored with the Wii, or its graphics will be very dated resulting really low sales giving the oportunity PS3 to catch up or maybe this want happen and Wii will continue to sell at this pace.
If the current pace stays this way PS3 will never catch up. But i believe even this way PS3 will be a close second.

Your prediction was pretty spot on then. Pricecut wasn't that much of a brainer, but the amount of it was something i wouldn't have believed. Personally i try to remain objective, but i know a lot of us don't. There definately was "doomed" threads about every console, but i guess it depends on ones point of view, which are seen as being the "dominant". @Mars: Yes, but that wouldn't be true. I used predictions based in historical facts and current sales trends and facts based on notions i've made. But your post hardly bases on any facts. Wii has crap games, just like every other platform in history, but it's the good games that usually define the console. You could say that Wii is GC with waggle, but in all fairness, the competition is GC without waggle. @Zero Hero: I misread your question last time. I don't think the viability of the console itself has been a problem, it's more like to who it's viable and in what scale. If we look at 3rd parties, to some of them PS3 is going to make a lot of money, but not to as many publishers as Wii. Sony is also going to make profit with PS3 eventually. And even in worst case scenario, the platform is going to have enough games for gamers play. So it is viable platform, but just not in similar scale as Wii.
