Ok, let's see.... Are they f****** stupid or what? Is running at 23fps 720p without downgrading? SHIT, THEN JUST DOWNGRADE IT, YOU BUNCH OF IMBECILES! It was obvious the Wii U would not be able to run the main version of the game! It was implied that they would need to scale it down! It was damn obvious! And now they complain and surprise about it? They realize NOW that they may need to downgrade the Wii U version? NOW?! For the love of God... this is so stupid is not even funny.

Really, this is beyond me. Stupid people is beyond me. And Slightly Mad Studios people are VERY stupid.

Its about how far they are going to have to go to comprimise their vision of the game I suspect.

Would you buy the game on the Wii U if it ended up like this:

With Wii U on one side, and the PS4  on the other?

Due to diminishing returns, the difference would not be as visible as in that example.  Rather, compare Last of Us with Last of Us Remastered or Kill Zone Shadowfall.  That would be the type of difference you would see in fidelity and frame rate most likely.

My opinion is that they should keep their promises, esp since they already took peoples money.
Even if they have to downgrade the visuals abit.

There's a ton of physics going on as it looks. Something a Smash Bros or Mario Kart almsot doesn't haveat all. Maybe it's even to much for the CPU.

Plain fact, the Wii U CPU is extremely weak even compared to AMD Jaguar, which again is weak compared to midrange desktop CPU's.

Oh deary, is anyone REALLY surprised with this? Then again, they shouldn't have promised WiiU version at all.

regardless if they downgrade the graphics and continue on 23 FPS, the Wii U owners are already out for blood. they shouldn't really promise something that they can't really be done. not sure about the sales of this game on PS4 and XOne.

I get the point you're trying to make here, but this is obviously not an equivalent comparison between the Wii U and PS4.

this just shows how bad the game developers are.

Mario kart 8 runs 720p60
needforspeed runs 720p30
many similar racing games runs on 360.

If they cant make the game run on wii u they probl dont want to try at all. You can expect that they maybe invest like 1 month work in the wii u version at all.

It's not an unexpected blow up from Nintendo fans, but it's quite clear to anyone looking level headedly, the game was originally meant to be a 7th gen release, however PC was the lead (and so the capabilities are constantly evolving). Across the course of the lengthy development period, it ended up becoming one that pushes the higher spec 8th gen systems beyond their capabilities (with a target 60fps).

The Wii U version was already scaled back and is still not hitting a competent frame rate with less graphical details and a lower resolution. It really will be cut back further.

Look at the shit the Vita build of NFS Most Wanted got for the graphics not being as good as the home console versions and cut out cars etc. While actually, I'd say due to all the complex physics calculations which remain fully intact, the fact that it is still clearly the full game on the system, it's one of the most technically impressive hand held titles of all time). You'd have a similar situation for the game on Wii U. Many Wii U owners would be very vocal about how they've not only had to endure the delay, but also had an inferior product (see Watch Dogs). Sales would also be greatly reduced.

Slightly Mad Studios have found themselves in a predictable position of damned if they do and damned if they don't. Have they helped put themselves there? Most definitely, but some of the "FUCK THEM!" attitudes on here just show a serious ignorance to what is actually involved in game development Technology progressed during the development of the game, and the initial ambition was ALWAYS to make the best circuit racing game they could. That means that the older systems specs were no longer up to the job, hence the PS3/360 versions being dropped and now likely the Wii U version being dropped.

I'd much rather they were dropped rather than the overall project have been held up and compromised by older hardware.

RIP Dad 25/11/51 - 13/12/13. You will be missed but never forgotten.

Maybe you're not actually trying to say this to me, but I was saying that I understood what he was trying to say.  All I wanted to point out was that this wasn't an equivalent example of how the games would differ in look.  (Not saying that there wouldn't be one or that it's actually negligible)

Not surprising really. The game is much too ambitious for the Wii U.
