Forums - Nintendo - Splatoon strats! - *OP fixed* - Game is out now! What strategies have you picked up?

wall hiding, and nullifying. The first is as it sounds. If I saw a player coming i'd run around the corner, splat the area (including the walls) then hide in the ink on the wall. The enemy's first instinct is to shoot the ground so I could usually get a surprise attack sprung. The second also takes some stealth. If I found an opposing roller I would not try to kill them. Instead I try to follow them unnoticed with my own paint roller ,completely negating their progress and wasting their time. Stealth is my key strategy so far.
As far as other players, I definitely died at the hands of some splatter shot jrs (I like maining the roller) and people seemed to get a much better idea of how to use high ground to their advantage this time around. I saw quite a few people spamming grenades by sitting in a spot of ink, then tossing and recharging repeatedly.

I'm guilty of this actually. I did this near the enemy spawn point at Walleye and at Oil Rig's largest area at the north. The crates there make for good camping spots xD

So the game is out now. Any suggestions?

Here are some pretty good strats, for reference.

Personally, you would have a tough time convincing me that the high rate of fire guns aren't the best. That is, at least for turf wars. I'm sure the other weapons will have their use in other game modes, but the highest scoring players seem to be using the Splattershot Jr., the Aerospray, and maybe the regular Splattershot/roller. They simply cover ground the fastest and are good enough at dealing with enemies. Also, i have a few strategies on the current map pool, but I won't really go into them each, as I'm not sure they're incredibly effective. However, on Saltspray Rig, I found it almost impossible to lose if you immediately rush the North square and then camp it by guarding the center area, which is the only path into the North square. I personally use the Aerospray rg, as the ink mines help quite a bit in guarding the center and the aerospray is an overall solid weapon. It might be a bit boring at times, but it is worth it, as the North square is almost always the determining factor in who wins on that map. Anyway, feel free to throw out a few of your own map strategies, especially on Urchin Underpass. I hate that map, lol!

I bet the Wii U would sell more than 15M LTD by the end of 2015. He bet it would sell less. I lost.

Haha great video! Updated in the OP for laughs. And thanks for bumping the thread with that post. I actually forgot about this thread xD

I've been thinking about using a Charger and kind of 'shadowing' one of my team's Rollers. They seem to be vulnerable to Splattershot attacks, so I figure I can hang around nearby to keep enemy Inklings off their back. I'm sure I wouldn't rack up a huge score that way, but it should benefit the team to keep our Roller alive and keep sending opponents back to their spawn point. Any thoughts on something like that?

Also, has anyone ever tried charging & firing a Charger mid-super jump? Splatting an enemy in one shot before even touching the ground would feel outrageously badass. If that's possible, this game needs a recap feature (like Mario Kart TV) pretty badly so I can share my amazing feats with the world.

Good questions! I'll make a post after this as a reserved question page and I'll link it to the OP! I still haven't got Splatoon yet so I can't answer those question myself.

Whuh... but... but this is your thread! How do you intend to maintain it without any personal experience with the game?

Splatoon strategy question and answer post!

I'll put any questions that people have below! The following are unanswered!

Is "shadowing" my team's Roller efficient in Turf War? (the_dengle)

Can we tried charging & firing a Charger mid-super jump? (the_dengle)
